I heard that public schools are making 420 a PA day (no school) simply because people aren't showing up for class that day anyways. Not sure if it's true or not but here in Canada I'd completely believe it.

I skipped 3/4 highschool 420's and the one that I did attend there were about 10-15 students in the class out of a normal 30-35. It almost made sense to not go seeing as with such a low student count nothing would be taught that day anyways.
