Island/Continent Based Map?

Would it be possible with the generator that's being used to create a map that is mainly sea based? As in one central continent with lakes and rivers that's surrounded by ocean and islands of different size. Now that we have multiple grids it wouldn't be hard to make massive oceans with many uncharted islands, right? It would be insanely awesome to travel the seas while avoiding sea creatures to find a nice island to settle on. Right now these row boats serve as good transports along rivers but what about bigger boats? It'd be pretty odd to waste large amounts of resources on a large ship only to have it be stuck in a lake.

If it can be done not only would I not mind a map reset but damn I'd be happy for it.

I'm in the process of considering how a new map generator should reasonable be made. So far I haven't made any great progress, but rest assured that the last map reset wasn't the last ever, at least. :)

No! I am SAD. I don't wana nutha reset. :( Just hand make(ish) one supergrid that is a coast, then an ocean. A few islands, and then another coast, leading to a new continent.

Don't worry, there's nothing to indicate that another reset will come at any time in the super near future.

I think the next map reset should come after the quest system. This way if a char reset is needed due to quests,it comes along with a map reset. (city of Babylon while characters get strong enough to move out of the RoB area anyone?)

I would like to see supergrids with alternate base landscapes. Or at least, in the same way that the main supergrid has a super-macaroni of deciduous forest, have other supergrids have super-macaronis of sea, grassland, or other terrain types. Although the swamp types and mountain would be...inconvinient, at best.

In a way I want a new map reset, and in a way I don't.

I do because it's always more fun during the early days, when you're struggling to etch out an existence amongst the untamed wilds.

I don't because then I lose all of the resources I have.


I'd also like to see a map with more mountains. There is a lack of mountains on the current map.
