Darkness

Why does it have to be so dark? It's an incredible pain to play during in-game night. It's also a huge strain on the eyes of the players trying to squint to see the boogeymen hiding in the trees. Couldn't we maybe lighten the tint just a bit?

Both of which are annoying to maintain. Just think of it as Jorb's way of saying "I hate everybody in your timezone. So there."
Surprise.

I tend to agree on this one.

While I like the lighting effects, I find playing in the darkness hurts my eyes and I rarely make the effort to maintain proper light sources.
Mining helmets use my precious helmet slot, and torches cost linen, which all goes to the march of the banners.

Perhaps darkness could be implemented as just a blue overlay rather than a total reduction in light.

i rather like the concept of darkness, it ads a nice touch of realism into gaming.

and its not always pitch black, as there are moon phases.

theres only *grabthenextbestassdarkness* when its around new moon.

and the lightsources makes sense either.

the only think i could think of, would be probably a herb or the well known cavebulb, to make some kind of "night vision"- potion out of it.

anyway, i think, that near total darkness might be a hint from devs, to get out and have a rl, while not seeing ingame ;)

I dont think many people use lightsources at night. It could really be a bit lighter. lightsources would still be used for the only thing they are used now: mining and cave exploring.
I even fucking changed my mirc setup from Blackletters on white background to viceversa because of this. :(

same with me. i only use torches, and only in mines (not now, but i used to ;) ) or caves.

the rest of the night i stumble through the dark forest like everyone else, in hope, not to get molested :D

but as i mentioned before, i like the realistic touch and its not that dark every time, according to moon phases.

also it makes walking through the forrest more thrilling ^^
