M&B Warband players?

Postby Saif_Mahlik » Thu Jun 21, 2012 6:58 pm

Anyone here play Mount and Blade Warband? (M&B)

Just a nice topic to discuss the game, I began playing years ago but back then I played the normal mount and blade, just installed Warband and completely loving it! Took over the Khergit Empire :3 But I made one big mistake by giving the fief's to Cities to my vassals which means I earn less of an income, I would have preferred to give them the Castles instead.

Anyone know a way I can get back the City from a vassal and make myself the fief of it?

I am playing it aswell but mostly multiplayer. There are also some nice mods for M&B. Napoleonic wars is a really nice mod. We play this game with our regiment in that mod :)

Played the Beta of both M&B:Warband, M&B:Napoleonic Wars, am admin on all NW_Official_EU and US servers and on the Teamspeak servers.

So yes, played it quite a bit(2000 hours or so :D). I used to be in the 22nd batallion, a very skilled clan which unfortunately stopped playing native, so I left, Now I got my own NW regiment(Oldenburgische Grenadier Battalion), which isn't too big, just some sort of a group of friends playing linebattles weekly.

I played singleplayer a couple summers ago. Just bought it recently and am playing with some friends. I'm terribad at the combat, though getting better at it bit by bit.

c-RPG and campaign are the only two good things about this game. The DLCs are garbage

Game is amazing. Not a HUGE fan of napoleonic though, the animations are a little screwy for some reason.

melee (With bayonets) is slow and lazy and not really based on any skill because of that and other factors.
Wierd ass movements out of no where (your character is shifted like 3 feet in some random direction against your will)
Often you will move right through the enemy. No collision.

Then there's just the aesthetic issues, like when reloading your hand goes right through the bayonet, lol.

But other than that, napoleonic is pretty awesome, and the others are even more so. I see why people weren't fans of fire and sword, though, I enjoyed it a lot for what it's new features like mercenary camps where you can hire them.

That's true of the entire MnB series until it has a chance to get patches and updates. If you saw MnB while it was in Beta, you'd understand just how silly and clumsy it can be and how much it can evolve. Paradox is known for rushing its games out a bit but they're also great about getting the bug patches and updates necessary to make the game fun. Napoleonic is recent enough that it needs a bit more time.

+1 to Tech's comment

But I love M&B and the thing I especially like is that it encourages mods, so if you ever conquer all of Calidaria or want to change something you can with the vast variety of mods.

I plan on downloading the 1257 AD mod due to the map being larger and there being many more factions, anyone played it or tried the mod? Is it any good? I don't really plan on getting too much involved in Politics this game, I'd just prefer to loot, raid and plunder villages, make a vast fortune, buy a few businesses, trade a little, get the best armor and have every Noble in the game say "That is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of men!" :3

Or should I download Europe 1200? Or 1257 AD? Help?

Yeah I know but it still not much of an excuse.

I remember a video apparently the first time they released it the gameplay was some kind of candy land looking thing with all animations fucked. lol.

Also, they get their technicals wrong. It is mentioned napoleonic doesn't support integrated video cards, but I use a integrated video card and... well you get where I'm going with this.

It worked.

STILL, the game is so god damn original and plain awesome, it's literally what I've always imagined the almost perfect game. So I can't really complain, now can I?
