Seeing People

How long did it take for you guys to find other people living near you?
I live alone and did some some exploration around my hermitude. I found many villages... some of them with bashed down palisades and all filled with skeletons. I have never seen another hearthling in my week of play, just ruins and a whole lot of dead people.

I met the first person ( who was not in my crew) in W6 10 minutes after spawning in the fresh clean new world (October 25, 2011) (- hello SarahJ Scout -) - funny enough someone i already knew from W5...

Depending on the area in the world and your timezone it might not be easy meet someone, also a lot of ppl use the autohearthfunction of custom clients which let's them TP to their HF in case someone unknown (not kinned) is coming in their "viewfield"...

Because of the current lag issue the active playerbase is a bit smaller atm...

My first character didn't see anyone for a couple of days. I would get griefed often when offline though.

My current character ran into someone within an hour after settling. We started trading (me mostly trading labor for his curios), now we have a small settlement together with a few others we ran into. We have had rough times, but we are still moving along nicely.

When looking around for curios in my bear cape alt, I ran into someone with better gear (Merch Robe, Bear cape although he didnt had a weapon), spoke to him about my intentions then moved away. He seemed to be writing something, but as I said, I already left.

Chances are, you don't want to meet another
player, many that search for other players are
actually killers, some are looking to help or
be helped by others.

pretty much 1 min after spawning. the area we spawned at as a group was pretty packed out, i think first day i counted almsot 40 different people. this decreased though as people moved off and away.

I dont see many people often now when i forage etc though.

The first person I met at my current home was my next door neighbor.

A couple days after I started there, she helped skin a bear because we didn't have enough survival for it <3

NaoWhut is right about it being very risky, but I think meeting people is worth the risks.

Most people is xenophobic and hates the unknown player. They approach while wielding their weapons, waiting for the other one to initiate the attack which most of the times ends in the death or injury of one side over the other (no fair fights here).

Never had a problem when using alts, I'm pretty friendly and well... Even a noob wearing dhelm ran away from my 1 uc bear cape alt when HE was supposed to ambush ME.
