New guy, need some directions

I have a few skills already, but lets just go with brand-spanking new.

What places are there that are good areas for new guys? by this I mean any village or possibly even a general area under some head honchos protection.

If you can't suggest me any, then I'd just like to know the safest area that isn't reaped of resources and littered with tons of claims Thanks in advance.

Some of the posts ive seen seem to be expecting people who know what they are actually doing, unlike me

I suppose I could give Brodgar a shot, even though the whole area around the ring seems cramped.

Brodger is Noob Friendly too the max (or so they claim), but not its not like the others are looking just for experienced players...

Just don't let the folks at Brodger capture you, they won't let you go otherwise...

What I did when I was new?

HEAD EAST

Then once you have an established base, you can do whatever. Make it somewhere close to a large supply of lumber (meaning you'll probably have to go out to the aggressive animals; but no worries, a quick roundpole fence will protect you from most non-human enemies)

Or, if it hasn't already been claimed, head down the brodgar expansion road (The main road east of the lake east of the Ring) and look for a rune saying "Road to Nowhere Ville". That's my old place.
