I think each player would find a different benefit and have a different opinion, and I guess there is a different kind of village for each leadership style, but I find this question very interesting and would love to hear another answers, so here I tell you what I think.

If the village is internally organized, the team work makes the individuall effort to be much more productive. IDK how exactly to say it in English, but there is synergy.
If the village is a peacefull one, where players do have nice relationships with other villages, trade is much easier and with less risks.
If the village is strong, they will retaliate if any member suffers an attack.
If their members are united, will teach new ones how to deffend themselves and will help with gear.
If you are a new player you might find security (maybe even a walled plot that can have housing), also information about where are the nodes and how to get your resources, maybe give you seeds and cattle.
if the village has some sense of comunity the leaders will organize a defense when facing any major attack.

Now you can ask which would be the facts against joing a village too. ;) :D

I would suggest to hermit for at least a week. No point joining a village if your not used to the lag or the playstile of haven.

After the week you know what you want from haven. It all comes down to the simple fact that some people like to play games with other people. Share stories, help each other, grow stronger in numbers. Major pain if your in the wrong type of village though. Find out exactly what you want in this game and join the type of village that fits into your playstile.

i would definetly make sure you are aware of how a village runs before joining it. The structure, the way the village runs, who is in charge, what your role will be, who else is in that town, how big, how much u'd be expected to participate etc etc... Just get as much info as you possibly can before hand.

To me a village offers security, it offers connections with other people, it removes the element of lonliness you can get in this game playing alone, you get support, if you're new its a great way to learn, you develop at a much faster rate inside a town. so there's definetly a lot of plus points

as evidenced time and time again, there is serious strength in numbers in this game. just make sure you're a good fit with the people you join up with and that you try to get along with all of the people in the village
