We have gone through 2 weekends of campaigns, thus far.
We had 8 players for this first.
10 players for the second.
The Clash of Kings megawar resolved itself very quickly, with Stannis killing Renly, taking the throne. The Westerlands was skirmishing along the Riverlands with the combined armies of the Riverlands and North meeting them tit for tat... However, the Iron Islanders were having their fun up north. This all ended, suddenly, however, with Stannis' conquest. The north fell in line as Stannis arranged a betrothal between Shireen and Robb Stark was enough to ensure their loyalty. The Crossing was not pleased...
After the war was concluded, a series of trials were held to determine the guilt of involved parties. Joffrey and Cersei Lannister were immediately beheaded, both of the Clegane brothers were executed, and their heads sent to Dorne. The Kingslayer was imprisoned and killed. Tyrion Lannister was given mercy, and was allowed to return to the Westerlands alongside Tommen. Margaery never made it to her trial, as he died in prison a depressed drunkard. The Reach was not pleased...
Following only a few months of uneasy quiet... Queen Daenerys had arrived from the across the narrow sea! The Westerlands and the Reach, unhappy with the tyranny of their new ruler, and Tywinn Lannister and Mace Tyrell rose the flags in support of the queen, hoping to quickly crush the new Baratheon King, who was tremendously unpopular. Coinciding with this revolution, the majority of the Crownlands direct vassals revolted. However... Each of the 5 separate Kingdoms, less the Vale, joined with Stannis Baratheon in this war of Rebellion. Against the combined might of The North, The Riverlands, The Stormlands, the Crownlands, and Dorne, the insurrection was defeated. Lord Mace died in the fighting, and Tywinn Lannister was sent to the wall, where he remains. Queen Daenaery's however remained strong, and her support existed still in the Westerlands, while Tyrion Lannister spoke great and horrible truths about their new King. Leading a faction to put her on the throne.... it all ended suddenly, with a black wraith cut the queen's throat in the dark of night.
All of his political enemies defeated, King Stannis seemed secure, however the wars were not without their cost, as The Crossing successfully vied for independence. This created tension between The North and the Iron Throne, as the North demanded that The Crossing and all of its lands be made the direct vassal of the North. In an ensuing political conflict, the North sought support for its claim, and denied its petition by the Iron Throne, declared a war of independence. The Iron Islanders used this to reap the countryside, as the Seven Kingdoms once again erupted into violence. The Westerlands joined the North, while the remaining Kingdoms remained neutral (King Stannis becoming even more unpopular), save Dorne, who chose to assist the Iron Throne once more in thanks for their vengeance.
However, before the armies could even meet in battle, Robb Stark was slain by a shadowy assassin, ethereal.
Thrice did the King slay his foes with his dark magic, and the mental weight of this fell heavily on King Stannis. He went stark raving made, a lunatic. Disgusted with the happenings of the Throne, Edmure Tully of the Riverlands pledged fealty to The King of the Iron Islands, splintering away from the Seven Kingdoms... and Tyrion Lannister, witnessing the depravity of the King, once again sought audience with any Lord Paramount, High Lord, or even landed knight who would speak to him. His beseeching for the rid of the mad king, as bad as any before him, finally struck a chord. Uniting behind Tommen Lannister, who still held his claim to the throne, The North, The Vale, The Reach, and the Westerlands all sought to crush the king and his faithful allies, The Dornish... and the good Lord Davos, who was the most ardent supporter and public advocate for the Mad king.
Battle raged for months, with tens of thousands dieing... and a shadow appeared once more, quickly killing Tommen Lannister, removing all who had a claim to the Iron Throne except for the Baratheon family and its immediate heirs from the face of the world. The war ending by law, the Westerlands defiantly declared a war against tyranny, knowing that they could not replace the King, but at least they could make him pay for his crimes! The war began anew, and for more than a year the combined might of each of the Kingdoms met in battle, and still assassins did their work on the lords of Westeros, with Tyrion Lannister and a northern woman lord, the successor to Rob Stark, each meeting their demise. However, the rebellious forces were eventually victorious.
Stannis, and his entire family, had their dynastic stain removed.
With their entire dynasty.
That is where we ended this past Sunday. Replacing the King (as not a single person had succession to the throne) is an AI of Stannis' previous fealty, who we have decided will be played by an AI until eventually removed. The Riverlands and the Iron Islands still have a separate Kingdom. The Vale is in shambles, the Northern is led by a young Bran Stark, the Westerlands by a lady Janna (a distant heir to the main line of Lannister) (all the other heirs having been killed by assassins, shadow or otherwise) but still strong, Stormlands are controlled by a young boy, of House Tarth, who replaced the destroyed Baratheon line... Lord Garlan controls the Reach, Theon Greyjoy the Iron Isles (as King of Iron Isles, Riverlands, and personal owner of the Crossing), Edmure Tully the Riverlands and Prince Doran the Wise controls the entirely unscathed Dorne!
If you wish to join, you are all welcome. You should be warned, however, that the pace is quite slow compared to a solo game of Crusader Kings 2, and there is a lot of roleplay and talking that happens on a consistent basis. The information in the OP is still valid, as we play that time every week on Sunday. (add me on steam "High Lord Bob", and be sure to make sure your checksum matches ZWAH! I can help you if it does not.)
