Need help

So i started the game a few days ago and i pretty much get the basics.

But i died of starvation because i didn't manage my skills and my priorities for what i should be doing for surviving properly.

I went as far as getting my lento thing set-up along with many baskets full of numerous wilderness items. i also made some bunny slippers.
i made the mistake of not feeding myself frequently so i died of starvation not too long ago. the only food i was able to scavenge at the time were bunny meat. i ate it raw for i didn't have a fire and as expected didn't get any hp out of it. (1.0)

Now my next gen character inherited some stuff from my old one but i noticed the skills weren't all there, and for some reason couldn't learn them as easily as my first character. Kinda bummed me out.

So I'm gonna start all over from scratch , but i want to be near someone who can help me survive better.

Would anyone help and mind if i settled near them?

if your looking for a group of people to play with i know some friends of mine that can start you off in the right direction. they are all kinda new and have the help of progressing. also any question you have can be sent back to me i have been playing this game for a very long time and not much supprise me any more. the first thing to expect is this world will be a learning world for you not to become on top its to late in the world with the top players being way to far ahead for you to ever realy catch up. but not saying you should not try to do the best you can and learn as much as you can as fast as you can. If you dont trust that this info is correct then all i can say is good luck but if you like what im saying i can help you get a handle on the game.

I'm not really expecting to become a top player, I'm more into the experience of the game. And to experience it fully, i need to survive. Which i am having trouble with.

I appreciate the help you are willing to give me, are your friends newbies like me? I just want to be near someone i can go to if i need help in the game. Like for food importantly.

you don't need to rely on other people to feed yourself. there are many ways to feed yourself including fishing, foraging, small game hunting, farming (things such as carrots pumpkins beetroot and so on are easy starter agriculture food). if you manage to grow wheat and harvest straw for a chicken coop, raising chickens is an easy source of food as well.

the important thing for you i think, is to be patient on doing things such as building houses, paving, plowing, chopping trees and so forth and spend more time exploring and collecting food and items. look up "finding food" on the ringofbrodgar.com wiki for more ideas

Did you download a client?.
Enders shows at the minimap the items you can forage and a red circle with the agressive animals (yeah to avoid them ).
Once you are by the item you can right click it and a radial menu appears sometimes with the "eat" option. (Try blueberries, INT increases our Learning Points).

Fishing is fairly easy, search for a fishing node looking where fish jump out of the water. Each type of equipment gives a different fish, and each fish has a different kind of gain.
Although I would consider fishing with an alt, so if it gets killed you loose only what it carries on.

If you happen to get any valuable store it into an alts inventory, so it is safe. With the hearth secret it will spawn near your Hearth Fire.
