Interesting tale of ADOM, the roguelike

Postby Belcanzor » Thu Dec 27, 2012 6:35 am

Recently I come back, after several years, to the page of Thomas Biskup, the guy that make the most impressive roguelike work (in my opinion).
And receive a pleasant surprise: after a long stop the game as a new version. But in the past he say : "Now I focus in JADE development and stop ADOM" or something like that. So, what happens?
Crow funding, the guy raise more than 90.000 (one of the biggest and in very short time) from donations through a web name indiegogo or something.
How about same for H&H? Many gamers with lots money visit that web. I imagine only J or L can do that (ask for the money).
If money can make Biskup come back to ADOM after all this time (and thats a miracle), I think is worth try to take the proposal here. But I fear they summarily execute me for bring a stupid idea, for that I ask everyone to lock up is troll for few seconds and give is opinion about.

Sorry my english. I learn playing Wizardry 7 and a dictionary english/spanish.

Obviously money can make people do many things but they are already receiving money from Salem.

Besides that there is no way I would donate money just on the HOPE that they start on development sometime soon again.

Unless Jorb and Loftar would be bribed with 10 milion $ they wouldn't just drop there contract with Paradox and abandon Salem for Haven. No amount of realistic money would motivate them from coming back to Haven till Salem is finished.

For the 50th time, have paishense till Salem is released. There are already forum posts with rumors of them coming back to Haven after they are done with Salem. It's really starting to get old reading another Haven quick fix solution every 5th post.

I never ask they abandon Salem.
But maybe they can put online a non-lagy version of H&H, even a old one is welcome. I remember play without lag before they got the new server. And I remember play just fine with 900 ppl in the new server. With 1.200 there is some lag, yes.
I repeat: I dont ask for develop of H&H, I know thats too much. Just same game without lag.
And the extra money maybe can be used for hire helpers.
They can put a goal of 20.000 for load a old version, 30.000 for same without lag, etc.

By the way, I find the link to ADOM Resurrect:

I wish some other decently skilled and experienced programmer(s) would take on the task of making a 2D isometric, free (non-consensual) PvP anywhere, permadeath, no non-player-created anything MMO. :(

Or, like I already mention in another post somewhere, we can try to convince Sami Maaranen to make a online version of is game URW, and we have a perfect pvp/farm/hunt/craft game.
