Noobie interested in game and have some questions

Postby Artaniss » Thu Jan 10, 2013 1:47 pm

Hey guys, didn't know where to exactly post this, and I hope its in the right forum. Anywho, I got in to the Salem Beta and I really like it , and I am also trying Wurm online to try to quench my hunger for this type of game. So without further adue I have some questions for you vets.

1-What is this game like? Is it open ended, sandbox type mmo for ex; cn I build pretty much anything I want?
2- Is there a steep learning curve?
3- How does this game compare to Salem or even Wurm online for those of you who have played it?
4- Is the cash in game player driven? Is there a way to make cash to buy better items?
5- Can you be a thief or be stolen from, and can you be killed by other players?

Please let me know. Thanks all...

Oh and one more question. When you die I know you are dead permanently, but what happens to all your skills and cash and items on your body? Does you skills house etc get transferred over to your new character or is it all lost and we have to start al over again?

Right place :)

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Haven_and_Hearth_Wiki ( some database errors occur atm with some pages)

and a lot more around the forums to read...be aware that there is a lotta lag ( Loftar and Jorb are to busy developing Salem to fix HnH right now) and thus not many players online but it doesn't cost you anything but time to check it out...

1-What is this game like? Is it open ended, sandbox type mmo for ex; cn I build pretty much anything I want? It's shitty sandbox game. You don't have as much freedom as you do in Minecraft. Rivers, cliffs, etc. cannot be removed. It's about as much of a sandbox as Runescrap.
2- Is there a steep learning curve? No.
3- How does this game compare to Salem or even Wurm online for those of you who have played it? Both games suck much worse than this one.
4- Is the cash in game player driven? Is there a way to make cash to buy better items? There is no cash.
5- Can you be a thief or be stolen from, and can you be killed by other players? Yes.

This game used to be fun, but now it sucks. Take my advice and find something else to waste your time on.

So this game is better then Salem in your opinion?? And why do you think Wurm sucks? I just started playing it seems very deep but pretty cool.

Ignore Sarchi, he's on his period. If you can learn to handle the lag it's one of the best games ever but don't expect the lag to go away soon nor development on the game to continue soon.

Sarchi's on his period? explains the red writing 0_o

Here's some tips to playing the game:
1. Find something else to do / someone else to talk to, it helps to keep your mind off the lag
2. Don't listen to the trolls, ever.
3. Join other players or a village, even though the player ship is quite scarce modernly, keep alive on the forums for chances to join people to help you learn
4. Zombieland rules apply: Enjoy the little things! punching rabbits, finding 'free' stuff, being creative etc.

1-What is this game like? Is it open ended, sandbox type mmo for ex; cn I build pretty much anything I want? You can built pretty much anything you want, aslong as it's in the wiki, and your character has 'discovered' the items required to build it.
2- Is there a steep learning curve? Past using the interface, understanding curios, the fep and LP system, and the discovery system? No
3- How does this game compare to Salem or even Wurm online for those of you who have played it? It is a very easy, non repetitive, and non grind game compared to those two
4- Is the cash in game player driven? Is there a way to make cash to buy better items? Haven is Barter. Read Gunnar's 'How to Trade' viewtopic.php?f=30&t=25079
5- Can you be a thief or be stolen from, and can you be killed by other players? Haven is open loot and open pvp, much the same as salem. The only difference is that in haven, animals and swimming will kill you.

Oh and one more question. When you die I know you are dead permanently, but what happens to all your skills and cash and items on your body? Does you skills house etc get transferred over to your new character or is it all lost and we have to start al over again? A percentage of your skills and fep stats (based on your tradition/change slider) and transfered to your inherit. The items you had on you, stay on your body. Your personal plot is transfered to your inherit, and all the items in the game world remain where they were. You spawn at your dead char's hearth fire.
