No more hearth vaults (Update on Village idol, bad news)

Postby Xcom » Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:55 pm

Update on page 2: Bears can actually destroy active village idols. Lock up idols well cause raiders will from now on use animals do destroy them just as easily as finding a bear.

Yes its just as the title says, hearth vaults with statues are penetrable. There is a way to destroy indestructible authority objects. There has always been but noone knew about it till now, at least publicly.

I guess the cat is out of the bag. Our identity's are revealed so no point hiding behind masks. But here is the full story. For the impatient ones open the youtube link and wind it up to 4:30.

A few weeks back me and a friend were derping around with a bear testing its speed on grassland checking how fast we could outrun it. Out of the blue we decide to test the bear against the village outer crossroad.

Rumors was circulating that bears was used to raid AD, Sounded like another hoax, but this was the perfect opportunity to test this bug. After going around the crossroad trying to maneuver the bear to stand behind the object like you regularly do to remove objects with tamed bears we were just about to give up. The bear constantly moved around the CR as if the CR was indestructible. Suddenly it happend tap tap tap... crossroad was gone. Both of us sitting there with open jars shocked by what we just had witnessed. We had discussed making CRed around the base to protect ourselfs against raiders. What we just had witnessed had put a massive monkey wrench in our crossroad wall.

Quickly we replaced the CR and yet again the new CR was gone. We had to test the bear against banners and statues as this meant it was impossible to protect ones base with indestructible authority objects. One after the other the bear after some trile and error destroyed object after object that it wasn't supposed to. Both of us broken and shocked that our base never could become indestructible lost all our will.

The day after, we were contemplating posting this on the forums. With the lack of documentation, mostly because of our shock forgetting to take pictures, we had no proof or any way to show our findings. But we both agreed to keep this quiet as others bases reporting severe bugs like this one had been raided by larger factions. Specially with no way to make a impenetrable base.

A few days past and we used the same trick to remove a few banners in our base as they were blocking a few new constructions we had planned. These are the pictures we took during this banner removal.

We wanted to get this info out but at the same time stay anonymous for the associated risks. We posted with alts but apparently the community is way to small to stay hidden so names were spillt just a few hours after. Of course nay sayers showed up and demanded conclusive proof.

I manned up and made my first video. Thanks for the tips btw Borka, Camtasia works perfectly. :)

Enjoy

I hope to not get raided after this. If I'm not you will probably see more videos coming from me in the near future.

I think if you spawn a troll they go through the stuff as well. Might be a bit tricky to move the troll forth and back though. Maybe if you hide behind stones and unduck then have the 2nd person undock on the other side.

As of now only 2 vaults are 100% safe. Statue vaults located on islands that have been stripped of trees making animal spawning impossible.
Or the 2nd and yet still impenetrable minehole blocking.
