I've been active again, i was happy that my old camp was still intact from where I left off after being killed by Dis (i think it was dis anyway)

Spent the last few days working back up and gathering supplies. all of a sudden two russians, speaking russian break down my palisade. and I log out just in time to avoid a raid.

Oh well, back to square one I guess. I see the russians in this game are still just as barbaric as ever aha!

An update. So since I got raided, at the time I just logged and hoped for the best, i'm back in to playing comfortably now, fixed up my place and went on with my life. I didn't know that a friend i also play with actually come on WHILST they were getting in, KO'd him and took his keys.

Upon closer inspection, the only thing to be taken was 3 peculiar flotsams... nothing else. absolutely... nothing...

They didn't break anything, take anything or even kill a cow/bull.


But today as I was working on my farm, i noticed my hunger being rather low, took my alt to my table to eat and there before me (still nothing missing) laid 5 pieces of Q173 beef.

I think I just witnessed some kind of friendly banditry, where they break in to your place and if they keep a key, will bring you stuff?

They also replaced the keys with only one of them missing. the only key is to one of the gates into the palisade (i know get a brick wall...) but still, the fact they now seem to be giving me stuff, i'm not sure if this is down to guilt or the fact that almost all of my stuff's quality shouldn't even consider being in existance or what... but I kind of like it aha!

Anybody else got any friendly bandit-like stories?

Any rangers willing to track some scents?

palibashing your palisade, or using a ram?
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Thats why I actually, strange as I find myself thinking, I actually wish the lag had stayed and they had not fixed it. It was a total pain, BUT, There seemd to be only hardcore loyal players remaining in those low 30-40ish numbers, now there's nothing but greifers runnign around tearing everything down and killing everyone like the chilsih low iq juveniles they are. I say bring the lag back. Dispite the lag being a pain it was actually a fun game again with all the 12 year olds and sociopaths gone.

Whilst I don't want the lag back - I get so much more done now, lol - I totaly agree with the rest of what you've said, it was quiet and peaceful and you felt safe wandering about. Since the player numbers have risen i've had boats stolen, graffiti on my lawns, lol, my newbie baskets trashed and my low q wall clay dug down to 0 - generally just childish stuff, but that doesn't stop it being a pain in the ....!

On the other hand though, I guess it isn't dull. :)

Yep - that's how it is - loads of disrespecting creeps are crawling back in - i never had to track that much as in the last days...

One hint to all those that wheren't hardcore enough to play during the lag times: if you need stuff just drop a runestone asking for stuff - keeps you alive and in most cases you'll get stuff...

probably all those that played in lag times are the generous ppl ...

Yeah, I came across two guys in a boat who started hurling insults at me for no reason. :/ It wasn't a really friendly experience for my first meeting people "in the world". If it wasn't for people in this forum being friendly, I think I would have quit encountering that.

Other than that, even though I'm new, if anyone else new wanted anything from my little farm like some seeds or tools or whatever I could craft, they'd just have to ask... or they could take something if they needed it without asking if it wasn't more than they needed to get a foot up. I just don't want them to take everything, or trash anything.

I still really think HnH needs a karma mechanic to keep 'evil' behaviors in check, so that bad people who die experience a much heavier LP loss in a death than someone not so evil.

You're viewing the situation wrong. Two people just came by and insulted a solo player without taking action. They are 1) impotent, 2) incompetent, and so we can deduce 3) likely very easy to kill. The karma mechanic you speak of should just have been you sniping the driver of the boat. Assault is a criminal scent hardly even worth scoffing at. If they were neither 1 nor 2 they would have attempted to attack you. If you ended up KOing one of them, then KO the second and quickly destroy their boat. Everyone must die one day and you should welcome a challenge rather than bad neighbors.

Very likely they are griefers/to be, so be watchful of them. They wanted to goad you into chasing them just to harass you. No karma mechanic would punish them for this, only you. The best solution is to just pull out a bow and take aim. If they flee, don't bother to follow, they're cowards.

Don't lump all us sociopaths together, I played through the lagg, and I love causing grief in any way I can.
