Japanese player pls-(solved - can be closed)

Postby Amanda44 » Wed Apr 17, 2013 5:51 pm

I'm in desperate need of some help with translation.

I've been helping a new palyer who is Japanese and speaks no english, so far i've been selfishly talking in english and waiting for them to find the translation - - Today they have given me two phrases to look up, but google translate is utter garbage, lol, and i'm not getting anywhere, i've spent over an hour trying to find the meanings and the closest i've got is that one is a karate term that i think means - mind, body and soul. The other - nothing, unless I wrote it down wrong.

Can a Japanese player pls pm me and help me out. I'd also like to learn something nice to say back, i can say 'thank you' but when I look for other phrases I get different answers. Obviously I don't want to get it wrong and say something that doesn't make sense.

This is a one off, I won't keep pestering you with translation questions, lol, I just want to show i've tried.

Thanks in advance. :)

@ Mods - when it's resolved i'll update thread and then it can be closed. Thx.

If you have Skype there is a Skype translator that works actively I would send a link but I'm at work it works pretty good as I used it for four diffenert languages at the same time

Turns out I have someone on skype who speaks Japanese, lol, so it's all sorted now. I got the mind, body and spirit correct and the other phrase was just welcoming me as a new friend - awww. I've replied with a thank you and a pleased to meet you and get to know you type msg.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions. :)

P.s. Yes, I knew Tonky was Japanese, she's not a frequent a visitor here though as she used to be. Thanks for the link.

Lol'd. Mind and spirit. This is what happening when you're encountering something another, like eastern language. Some phrases looks different and have much more finesse than they've in fact.

it just so happens that i was busy chatting when this thread was up and i had gone to bed without checking the forums and some people forwarded me your thread afterwards, like 2-3 am my time. im still a frequent visitor here, just not posting as much as i did before. whether you like it or not, im always lurking around, so watch out! 8-)

anyways, no hard feelings, amanda, i didnt notice this thread and my service is always available to anyone here as long as one is trying diplomacy. (but note that many times japanese players enjoy themselves talking to you too no matter how horrible the language barrier be, as a part of the "survival" game, so no worries about mistakes or misunderstandings.)

oh and yeah, yolan's japanese is good, maybe better than mine by now.

to harry and val,
see? i told ya, this will be the proof that im not operating some super-high-tech-nippon device to play dozens of japanese players alone like you accused me!
