Why do you play H&H?

Postby APXEOLOG » Sat May 25, 2013 1:26 pm

I'm interested why do players play hnh. I want to understand what type of content will make this game interesting for big number of player in term of long-living world (like this one).

As for me i like raiding in hnh. I like to kill other people, take loot and destroy villages. This actions increases my mood, because i 'dominate' over noobs or smb else. I increase quality mostly to use it in aggresive way.

I know lot's of people who disslike raiding and prefer just to harvest crops, but i cannot really understand why they do it every day. I hope you will help and say me what interesting for you in hnh?

In HnH I like stealing things. I just can't resist, and when I see good things, I steal them. When they're bad, I manage to resist. And I like hunting pearls because you can buy alot of stuff for them. :D
Oh, and I like to travel. It's just so entertaining to travel with map.

Im trying to learn a few things for the world 7, that and wait for it is all I do. Oh and some day I would like to learn this shitty combat system of haven and use it for rangering purposes.

I like the Q formulas and whatnot. I also like the idea of starting out with nothing and having a sprawlin Village that was created by my will and a lil bit o luck.

I also like to live a peaceful life in harmony with my neighbors, but also love the ability to totally crush raiders and to level their village/place of residence.

I also like the concept of fairness(something seldom shown currently in H&H)

That's why I like to play H&H

I like the freedom, there is noone to tell me what to do but myself. I also like the social aspects. Up to a certain point I like risk and the adrenaline that comes with doing stuff a certain way. I like the genuine emotion that comes from the death of my main character or one of his friends. In a weird way.

I don't like quality grinding much but i do admire people that do it and i realise that many other aspects of the game rely on the fact that it takes time to make nice things, and I like building things like brickwalls up to a point, weirdly.

I think most people play haven because they want power over something in the game

some people want power over their "natural" surroundings - farmers, q grinders
some people want power over other hearthlings - raiders, empire-builders
some people want power over themselves - this is the category that i feel like i fit into, in a way

does that make sense?

Pretty nice classification. But i don't understand what's the goals of the last group?

For me, it's mostly my creative side the game appeals to - I really enjoy plotting out the village, placing tree's, gardens, houses etc. I also like the sense of freedom from being totaly in control. It's like an alternative life in a way, one with no objectives but your own and no-one to tell you what to do, obviously i'm speaking as a hermit, I'm sure it's different in an active village. I get a sense of achievement from quality raising and trying to reach higher levels in my gear and my char herself.

I love exploring the world, meeting new people and I find the element of danger appealing, tbh, i'm not really sure why, I almost have a heart attack every time i'm in danger, lol, but I guess thats the point - adrenaline and excitement. :D

Hnh also relaxes me after a stressful day at work, I guess paving, planting etc simulates rl gardening or something, lol, I hate gardening in rl. But, hopefully, you get what i mean.

:)
