Have bears started healing themselves?

So I was killing a bear, 3 times now it's healed itself 100 health at about 10 minutes apart.

There are no dears around anywhere in sight.

Any ideas?

Yep, bears heal themselves, I just googled it after hitting a bear a couple of times with my sling and promptly realizing it did absolutely nothing.

This must have been pretty recently then, a change, as I've killed two bears, one on the 17th and one last wk and neither of them healed themselves.

(I only know the date 'cos I screenshotted it - not 'cos it was so important I couldn't forget. )
