Yeah, but it'd never happen.

From what I understand they don't do this for money. This is simply a game they work on and run in their free time. There is a donation button at the bottom of every page if you ever feel the need.

Should be done, either way, if just to generate them publicity for their future project(s).

Steam greenlight does F2P games, and even mods. No reason why Haven would be excluded... except maybe the client system/java? I think the only downside would be the additional time required to bring Haven in regulation with Steam's requirements for games.

If the default client was people's first introduction to the world of H&H, you'd turn off many more prospective players than you can possibly imagine.

I most definitely understand that. It would require some integration of one of the custom clients.... I could certainly see Jorbtar being reluctant to do that, though.

I don't think haven and hearth could thrive with the playerbase that this would introduce, disregarding any kind of lag issues, it'd be far too many players, especially if the world was the same size as it is currently

Just enjoy your skull throne and be happy, no need to rush into anything.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I think what makes this game unique is the (low) playerbase. If it goes on steam the game will probably lag even more and there will be too many people in a world.

If anything the game can only become better from a bigger playerbase.
