What's some of your favorite books?

Postby factnfiction101 » Sat Jul 06, 2013 8:44 am

I was wondering what books some of you guys like :geek:

I liked some of Ann Rice's novels, most of Stephen Kings works, and most horror books I can get my hands on. I'm not big on fantasy books, but I recently enjoyed The Lost Prince by Bridget Wood.

Sorry in advance if this topic has been created recently. I didn't see one and I went back to page 5, kinda sleepy so I might have missed one...

Everything Neil Gaiman has ever done: Neverwhere, American Gods, Stardust, Sandman comics, Anne Rice (Her 'bad' years, excluding Merrick or The Witching Hour), Jim Butcher's Dresden series, all of HP Lovecraft's work, Vonnegut, Anne Bishop's Daughter of the Blood series, Terry Pratchett's Discworld, some of Palahnuik: Rant, Fight Club, Haunted.

That's all I can think of for now. heh

Pretty much everything by Stephen King, EVERYTHING by Larry Niven, all of Chuck Palahniuk's books. Poppy Z Brite, Cormack McCarthy, Warday by Strieber and Kunetka, Alas Babylon, pretty much anything Post-Apocalyptic and Post Nuclear War. Robert McCammon, Summer of Night by Dan Simmons, will add as they come to mind.

You should read S.M Stirling's Alternate History/Apocalyptic setting The Emberverse (First book is "Dies the Fire", my favorite of the series, I read the rest for posterity's sake.)

I have alot of books stashed in here.

My most beloved book I can think of thus far is The Tale of Despereaux and Vägen till Jerusalem[Should be called 'The road to Jerusalem', in english] and all of Jan Guillou's books. Even the one I haven't readed yet. Because Jan Guillou makes such good books so I don't think I'd hate any of them at all.

I'm thinking of starting to read Ender's Game. I don't have any sci-fi books aside Hunger Games and it got good criticisms. So to Bokia I shall go. :)

My list includes most of the Black Library books, with special emphasis on A Thousand Sons, Hammer and Anvil, Faith and Fire, (And Red and Black if you're into Audio Dramas, I personally am not) as well as the Enforcer series (Dat Shira Calpurnia), Jim Butcher's Dresden Files (Obviously), as well as his series Codex Alera, anything written by; Vonnegut, Gaiman, Bradbury, R.A. Salvatore, Tolkien, Stirling, Rowling, Lovecraft, Pratchett, Shel Silverstein, Poe in most cases, and a lot of classic Sci Fi.

Currently re-reading a lot of classics that I had read when I was younger and in school, to get a better feel for them. I make it a point to read "The Giver" every year, because I read it with my favorite teacher, who ended up dying in a car crash (I still have the copy I stole from my school, it has the barcodes, tags, and stamps in all.) I try to be well read, but really, I just like being entertained.

I also have a massive collection of information based books, especially; Cooking, Survival, general crafts and artwork (Woodworking, smithing, leather working, etc, etc.) They've come in handy too.
