What would wall watching be without beer?

Postby Sevenless » Sat Jul 06, 2013 10:48 pm

So my villagers and I have rediscovered one of haven's oldest and most honourable sport: Wall Watching!

Image

But as the thread title says, what good sport can be enjoyed without beer? And so a designing quest began: To make a beer factory!

Lovely picture of the real thing just missing a couple hops tiles!

Image

We decided to make a two step cycle so the herb tables and kilns could be re-used without limiting capacity (tables and kilns are filled without needing second load of anything each day). 100L per day was our target capacity. Each day germinated wheat seeds from the previous day are moved into kilns and started burning. While that's going, the wheat/hops are farmed and excess wheat seeds are loaded into tables. From there the malted seeds are turned into grist, and then wort. 100L of beer will use 100L of water, so an empty and full barrel are placed near the cauldron. At the end the empty barrel is filled with fermenting beer and the old one is then empty for the next day's production. Placement near a well or hauling in quality water is suggested if you have access to a good Q well instead.

Legend:
w = wheat tile
h = hops tile
k = kiln
q = quern
c = cauldron
b = barrel
B = beehive (early prototypes we forgot this xD)
S = storage (mostly for buckets used for wort)
W = palisade post for wood blocks ala fueling

While working on the design we came up with another that we think would be a bit more efficient space/effort wise due to using the fields as walking/working space where the original had to make specific empty tiles for it. Just in case anyone else wants to make a beer factory of their own.

What a strong alpha male you are, ramming solo; unless you're turning this into a group sport.

Ramming is always better in a group. You can penetrate so much easier. 8-)
