Attention "The Wanderer"

Postby Ken » Tue Jun 09, 2009 8:45 pm

Whether you're one person or several, would you please cut it out with the commentary? My settlement is now down to only one rock in the immediate area because you've deemed it necessary to carve the rest into runestones--you're sapping our irreplaceable resources. It may be an adventure to you, but it's vandalism to people like me. Please try to be more considerate in the future. I can't be the first person to have this problem.

While it's unfortunate that it has had this effect on you and perhaps on others, his 'commentary' is also enjoyed by several of us. If there is a resource you rely on, then take steps to actually protect it, whether it's leaving a runestone requesting that visitors respect your resources, or protecting them by claiming the land (this does of course have problems, but updates will improve things.) You may also wish to try and ease this problem in the future by making a suggestion for the best way to regenerate such resources in a future update.

Just walk to the next rock around. It's not like you will need if often.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

It's still obnoxious vandalism. Even though I don't use them for anything, if I saw someone next to one of the rocks near my house, I'd yell. If they turned it into a runestone, they'd die. Same as if they were chopping down an apple tree near me for no good reason, except I'd skip the yelling part.

I'm personally getting annoyed with all the rune stones too.

I don't know if any new ones are being made by "the wanderer " though. Only found one new.

I think The Wanderer should keep carving his messages. It gives the devs an incentive (maybe) to add in a rock generating system, and everything he writes is interesting and adds to the fun of exploring. If you don't like them, too bad. At least he's not ransacking your supplies. Shouldn't complain!

Just to clarify, samm1337's character "wanderer" is different from the rune stone carver "The Wanderer"?

Also, ken, are you talking about rocks RIGHT on your cabin? or rocks within a screen or two from your settlement? I agree that rocks are something of a resource worth preserving at least a little.

i'm the original 'the wanderer', and i haven't 'vanadlized' anything in my eyes, i never carved any stones that were directly in settlements or the like... and i only carved one stone with the label "the wanderer" in the last 10 days or so.... so if new ones are popping up all over the palce.. it isnt me.
Originally i just carved them from southwest of the start to the northeast edge of the map, then looped back to laketown... but that was weeks ago.

Stones carved in the wilderness (unless you're way out in Mordor or something, but there's little point in leaving messages there) are potentially wasted stones of new settlements. Don't be so inconsiderate.
