Foraging Timer.

Postby Chrismas » Sun Aug 18, 2013 8:21 am

So I've been actually going out 2 forage lately. And I want to know what time would be a good time to set a timer to go back to that same spot, and find curios and such still. Anyone have a trick or a time they use themselves and have been successful? Thanks 4 reading i luv u all

The developer of haven has said multiple times, that It takes 2 hours for an area to reset
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

It's way less then 2 hours. I'm fairly sure it takes anywhere between 10-20 mins. I forage a swamp on my alt in the middle of no where by setting a timer and walking it every 20 mins.

This is true, we farmed mussels every 20 mins and it worked!

True - I used to forage a swamp and then a near by mountain, returning to the swamp on my way home - the round trip (from swamp back to swamp) took about 15 to 20mins.

It can sometimes be a lot less though - I went into my house yesterday, put something in a cupboard and when I came back out new stuff had spawned - amongst them was a bolette! Bonus!

Yup, i logged onto a swamp my friend had foraged just 5 mins beforehand and i found a bluebell. I think about 15-20 mins is generally the safe bet though.

Please don't believe any of these jokers, because it's 2 hours, go ask loftar if you don't believe me.

I can disparage a guy that has written an entire server like this by himself. However, at least from my experience in working with complex games, it can be easy to forget exact details without looking them up. There's a good chance that it's a MAX of two hours. I know I've seen spaces unload in less than 10 minutes. Houses can unload in less than 5 (made the mistake of leaving tanning tub in my house once early game).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
