Haven and Hearth Lets Play

Postby puppetlance » Thu Aug 22, 2013 11:47 am

Hey everyone, I've been playing Hnh sine w3 on another account and left briefly after w5 and came back now.
I enjoy HnH alot, and am making a lets play series on my youtube channel "BrothersofRegiment"

Also to note that Some stuff will be off camera, and on camera as you all know HNH is extremely long and takes a while to do anything so somethings I will record some I wont.
I dont know where I will take this series as I can become a hermit/find some friends to play with or I can be a wonder less traveler! all feed back would be great.

Subscribe to my channel, like it and share it if you think it's worth watching.
I'm only posting here to make more friends in the HnH community and to express my enjoyment of HnH with a lets play since i'm already familiar with most aspects of the game it wont be just be a starter in the wilderness not knowing what to do.

The second episode is up. this time i shortened it down under 10 minutes, threw in some music and tried out a different mic. My voice is a lot more cleared but their is some wind feedback from my fan that I tried to get rid of but to no avail it is still there a little! I also downloaded fraps to see what that was all about and went ahead and did my second episode check it out and tell me what you think!

Third episode is up, the episode provides me killing a fox for the first time on that character. I sped it up and threw in some music halfway through because I didnt want you to watch me sit there and kill a fox for how long it took. Also note that if you do not like metal or *Metalcore* music please turn your volume somewhat down.

Video List. WATCH all in HD please for the best Quality of sound and video.
Ep 1Christopher Columbus
Ep 2Nazi Camp!
Ep 3The Hunt *this video is Sped up and has music in it that is rather loud if you do not like Metal that has screaming turn the volume down*
Thanks all :)!

Thanks for the effort, but to be honest, Haven and Hearth as a game itself, isn't good for playthroughs.
It's not very dynamic, and if you're going to take a clip of walking around for hours or logging in for curios, it's not interesting.
That being said, it's a good idea to take lets plays in this way: Very short videos where you do, say, a cycle of farming, next video is you meleeing a boar, then doing a mining/smelting cycle. And all of that should be sped up like 5x. Just my thoughts.
P.S. "Don't rape that fox... YET"

I understand fully Nooby, thats why i said I will cut some things out and do alot of stuff off camera, although I'm not sure what I want to do yet because I have no friends left who generally play the game or would even consider starting over like I have in the video. The video is only around 18mins long because I have to explain my thoughts and what not. In the next few i will try and keep it under 15 or 10 minutes because I do agree even over that is really to long for a HnH video.

Although I do see a lot of potential for a lets play because there's actually so much to do in HnH
You could be a simple farmer who just farm or a owner of a large village or a murderous bandit on a killing spree!

And for the idea of you saying that it could be pretty boring you're 100% right, that's why i will definitely not film my self say building a house or construction a palisade because this is not a How To Video so there is no need for that, I will show me finished the last tick of the build process along with other builds that take a while to do but general game play can be quite enjoying to watch. I also plan on not being a simple minded farmer. I do enjoy killing bears and chasing down boar, and make a video about me on a simple hunt. but that is long to come in the near future.

Doing a lets play of being a murdering bandit might be more exciting than just hermitting, but might get you caught as well, revealing exact location etc.
Good luck to making Lets Plays, idk if Haven is the best game for it but I gave you a thumbs up regardless ;D

your microphone is really mediocre, sounds like some kind of internal laptop thing, got a really nasty hiss on your S sounds. I'm not sure what you're using to record but it's not coming out at a very smooth framerate whatever the case. camera movement looks like ass, you should really try to do something about that before you go any further.

It's a fairly long video for such a slow paced game, try not to record much more than 10 minutes and summarize what you've been doing, rather than showing you actually doing it, come into a video and explain that since the last episode you've done X,Y and Z and then BRIEFLY explain those things, otherwise it's boring to watch and doesn't make me want to keep doing so because aside from combat all of hnh's mechanics are, in reality, boring as shit , especially to watch

also if you keep showing your map and you'll be dead in less than a week, If you aren't already... I speak from experience.

and again, I really can't stress that if you ever want to accrue a more than teeny audience via this kind of content, and if you're really serious about it, you NEED an actual microphone and a better means to record your gameplay.

Haven and hearth videos will require you to edit them fairly heavily to make any kind of interesting content, if you're not willing to do that, stop while you still can

the sound settings not microphone is the fault on voice i'd say - not only hissing but also a bit of phasing / flanging is there ... any room effects set in sound software?

Hi puppetlance,

Overall I enjoyed it, i've seen a lot, lot worse, lol.

I thought your narration was pretty good, you made me laugh a few times and I was interested in what you were saying.
I think you should definately continue once you get the sound issues ironed out and shortened the length. I'd also diminish the area chat window.

Good luck! :)

To everyone, I use to use a US Army Head set to recored, although because I own a Line6 POD which records guitar it disrupted my internal soundcard as my computer is not super hightech and will no longer receive any input from another microphone rather thann my Line6. I do know that the sound quality kind of sucks but im not sure If theres anyway i can sort of fix it even with Youtubes compression system.
Also the noises in the back are my brother hes one of the RageLords of call of duty and yells/slams doors alot - Don't ask me why.

Videos will be shortened here on out, although the map issue i currently show the map because I was traveling. After the video i traveled atleast an hour away once i will box out the map with editing or simply have it close through the video.

I might use my brothers PC to play because of the simply fact his is alot better then mine and can render faster.

and to Hazzor I use
Camtasia 7
Camtasia sucks usualy unless watching in HD
I do own sony vegas but my computer cannot handle a 18minute render without taking hours as i don't own a 400 dollar Graphic card
