Damn you Swedish. I'm trying to terrorize the day of perfectly happy Americans.

Non-American here, and it's 11/9.
I just don't see that date as anything traumatizing, since none of my relatives ever lived in US so I can't 'connect' myself to it.
Even though it's pretty sad that people died and 2 expensive buildings collapsed, I can say people died more in Hiroshima, and more people were destroyed in the Chernobyl accident, more people died in wars, and so on. It's just nothing special. *flame shield up*

Chernobyl was as much negligence as equipment failure. It's not the only nuclear plant to have a failure, just the only one to be so traumatic.

However, if you live in a "rich" country, someone has probably been the victim of a terrorist attack, even if it wasn't radical Islam. Even the middle and poor countries aren't immune.

(I really wish the world could decide on a single convention and use it for date and time. Annoying it is when you can't tell if the poster is posting it one way or the other.)

Probably more people died from malaria on 9/11 than from terrorism. It would cost the world of order 100 billion to eliminate malaria completely or effectively completely and this doesnt count the money saved on treatment costs. It cost around 3 trillion dollars to catch Bin Laden and probably directly or indirectly caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and made the world a much more unstable place which was no doubt exactly what he wanted.

While the attacks on the twin towers were undoubtedly a tragedy, and my sympathies are with anyone who has ever suffered from terrorism, I would have loved a response which actually asked why it happened and taken steps to change the world in an objectively positive fashion rather than just blindly charging in.
