SwampTown?

Its interesting how over the last week or so several settlments have developed. Road networks are already springing up to provide trade routes between them.

However, as we all know, the demand for trade is fairly low really. Unless you enforce specialisation on yourself, you can make pretty much everything... Then again, specialisation to some extent is probably a more efficient way of running things once you get a large enough scale or production going...

To cut to the chase, I have an idea for a new settlement, although I am already comfortable in ShadyAcre myself...

Basically, how about somebody sets up a base here....

Name: SwampTown :D

Main Export: Leeches!

Basically, somebody who has a bit of time on their hands, likes playing while watching TV, doing other stuff, could become a 'wader' in SwampTown. Waders just stand around in the swamp, collecting leeches, and storing them up. Then you can trade them with people for all the various goodies you could want. Voila!

I like the idea of exporting leeches, I've spent more and more time collecting them myself and filling our gauze chest. They're really helpful when you're hurt, but one person can go through a LOT of them fast (specially when you're like me and suck at avoiding claims). Not to mention a town of 5 that knows how to use them. I'd definitely buy a chest of leeches.

what will ratio's be? I mean, they are easy to get, and you can keep them forever. They are slightly more rare than apples but are not in demand as much.

With the cart update it's also hard to understand why you would not just drive up to a swamp and fill your cart with leeches.

Anyhow, if you want to try it, you should do it. It will develop into a proper town however. Not just a leech town.
And trading will evolve over time.

Because it can be a long drive to the nearest swamp, and in time it took you to get there and back you could make more money making iron or something.

But I eagerly await for devs to implement oil making and snakes, so I can pack some leeches and some snake oil on my cart and travel from village to village, peddling my wares.

That'd be nice.

Remember you only have to make a trip once to get leeches.
