A HnH Rainmeter App

Postby Jfloyd » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:14 pm

I'm thinking about designing a rainmeter app that would simply check the status of the server and display it, so one doesn't have to open up the website to check.
Would anyone like to help me with this? I know I may need loftars help.

You can fetch http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/srv-state for an easily parsable collection of simple server info.

Thanks loftar!
This will help immensely, considering this is exactly what I need.

My first intention was to write an applet for the GNOME Panel, but it proved to be to much of a hassle,
so I ditched that idea for now. Instead, I used Conky. I might get back to the applet eventually.

I believe chars is the number of characters logged in, and users is the number of accounts logged in.

Indeed. More precisely, "chars" is the number of characters currently in the world -- that is, having a "physical" avatar -- while "users" is the number of accounts currently logged in. There can be a discrepancy in the case where, for instance, someone has active fighting relations but has closed his client, so that he is logged out account-wise but there player is still there inside the game, or, in the other direction, where someone is logged in but e.g. on the character selection screen so that he is logged in account-wise but there is no corresponding playing character. I didn't really know which would be the most useful metric of "current players", so I published both. The front page displays the "chars" metric.
