This game and its popularity.

Postby Shrapnelx » Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:28 pm

So, ive been playing this game for a short time, and im already loving the ruthless, harcore survival aspects.

Its not often you find games like this, and i dont think it has the popularity it deserves. How do we fix this?

Youtube vids wont help much, since its not an action packed balls-to-the-wall gameplay, fast paced thriller like most people are attracted to.

This game is obviously for a niche audience, so how do we find that group of people?

Any and all suggestions would be great.

Also, i know that some people, such as the 'oldfags' of this game wont appreciate all the baby blue eyes staring at them, but im here to say, get over yourself and deal with it.

Word of mouth.
Or advertising.
The same way any game gets popularity.

Well in the last few months of playing ive seen the average players online count go from 1000ish to roughly 300-500.

Not very many gaming forums smile upon advertising a game that they dont play.

Places like Reddit already have sub-forums for this game, but are completely abandoned, advertising there wont have much effect.

I was just saying 'word of mouth' - but Arcanist got there first, lol.

Like you say - this game is for a niche audience, it's not that we don't have influxes of new players, it's that they don't stick around after they get raided or killed, no amount of advertising is going to change how ppl react to losing all they've worked hard for. We need to spread the word to like minded people, our friends, other gamers we know, ppl who we know will enjoy a bit of a challenge.

Also, we all want new players, the forum can be a bit cliquey at times but new players keep the game alive and is more fun for all of us in the long run. :)

Well said.

Ive been wondering about the Dev/Owners perspective on this issue aswel, none of the dev threads have pointed to any big updates or content changes in the near future.

How active are the devs and what are their future plans for H&H?

It's a long read to get to pages with more input but it's all in those two somewhere. :)

Awesome links, thanks.

Seems like development is still alive, its only a matter of time. Seeing as this isnt a large dev team, its not going to take a couple months to do a full rewrite of H&H.

Also, ive posted a new thread in the IndieGaming section of Reddit, i threw in a rough description of the game, feel free to add to it if you can post.

Please dont hate me for my horrible advertising skills. :p
