It's a hot topic for Europeans given the history involved and the fact that the Ukraine takes up such a massive amount of Europe. Russia thinks of the Ukraine as their homeland and part of them still. Who's right? In my opinion the voice of the people should matter more than the voice of politicians willing to throw their people under the bus. What's my opinion worth? Fuckall.

The US has no stake in bothering with the Ukraine and it'd be weird if we did anything at all besides let events unfold.

Obama did say some harsh words, but Putin just didn't give a fuck. In Syria, Putin said some harsh words and Obama backed off. Conclusion - USA is Russia's bitch now.

As for Crimea, it should gain independence, but as Tatarstan

Yes Crimea belongs to the Ukraine. But Russia occupies it and shows aggression. I hope that NATO peacekeepers will come and kick some russian butts.

NATO has no Peacekeepers and UN Pecekeepers (that are not in action elsewhere atm) don't have time as they are preparing for the big springbreak party going on in St. Petersburg soon
