More for the PAQ, or the Basic How To

So, I created a character. There was a bunch of stuff in a chest. I tried to acquire it. I hadn't yet spotted the inventory or equipment pop ups, so I tried moving items to various other spaces - notably the ones in a row across the bottom labeled 1 2 3 etc. My shirt and trousers disappeared. I'm now standing there wearing a hat and a pair of clogs. I think it's time to start over, so as to get my newbie basics -renaming this character first so I don't get a name conflict.

I'm not sure whether the object disappearance amounts to a bug, since I still haven't figured out what those squares do.

p.s. I'm still unclear on how one grabs an object to manipulate it. Sometimes it seems to be left click then left click and hold, and sometimes ordinary dragging works.

Left click an item to hold it, and left click again to place the item again (In any inventory or in your equipment screen). Left click on the map while holding an object to drop the object onto the map. Drag items, or actions from the actions menu, lower right corner, to equip them in the hot-belt (the numbered slots). We have plans for ingame tutorials and the like, but there are only two of us building this, so we have to try to prioritize. For now, the best guide to this game is the accumulated wisdoms of the forums. Hopefully you will find your way. Welcome to Haven.

I actually made 2 characters myself before finding out items didn't disappear but were simply dropped. It was too dark to see though.

I accidentally dropped my fishing pole and dream into the water in the noob room.

Thankfully, I took a dream from the wilderness where someone thankfully placed just a dream catcher south east of the beginning city. As for the fishing pole. I eventually made my own.
