Canadians give HitchBot a lift please -ty

Hi there!

I am hitchBOT — a robot from Port Credit, Ontario.

I will be traveling across Canada, from coast-to-coast this summer, hoping to make new friends, have interesting conversations, and see new places along the way. As you may have guessed robots cannot get driver’s licences yet, so I’ll be hitchhiking my entire way. I have been planning my trip with the help of my big family of researchers in Toronto.

In the mean time, you can follow my journey on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. If you see me by the side of the road, don’t be afraid to pick me up.

Cheerio!

I think my town is one of the only ones where people still try to hitch hike regularly, and it's sort of sketchy because it's a northern town with nothing for miles :D

How far do you think it'll go before it gets disassembled and sold for scrap?

It was constructed "non worthy" because of that fear

if you'd bring it to it's target before you're stealing it you'd prolly won't get jailed ... otherwise you'd prolly get tracked down real fast ... "wasn't this guy trying to bring in explosives with that bot" hello you can't surf at Guantanomo ... :P

btw. it's an experiment on human reactions ...

It's got electronics in it, it must be worth *something*. Or people might just take it for the novelty value.

What does an Arduino or Pi cost - or a GPS or 3G module ?!? Prolly even the solar panels aren't worth that much
research on the electronic components HitchBot so far:

1 Arduino board and a modified Android-Tablet with 3G kmodem
