Forward Thinking

Postby McJager » Mon Jul 28, 2014 12:59 am

So, There's a ton of Mmos, Console, And anti-social 1337 soloyolo1v5mebro games coming out between now and 2016. Haven2 possibly? Correct me on that. Anyway, Thought I'd start a thread on future releases that people are excited about. I got a few atm and I'll talk about each one along with a link.

So first there's Archeage, This is the one I'm really looking forward to just because I love pvp and the fact I can kill my friends when they don't stfu about that drop they got in such and such dungeon. It's free to play, But with pay to play options.. Sadly it's an item shop game, Probably wont be gamebreaking pay to win kind of thing but it's still alpha atm so who knows. The cool thing is you can claim land, Build a house, A variety of vehicles and shit, And there's a ton of professions. It's also a open class kind of system a bit like HnH but less...Restrictive. It's still in a closed Alpha atm but supposedly will launch in august. Here's a link so I can stop looking like I'm advertising for another game. Technically this game is already out in korea and parts of Europe but still, this is basically the English localization of it.. Well north American.
http://www.archeagegame.com/en/
And a Database deal to play with the class system
http://archeagedatabase.net/us/calc/
I'll hold off on the other game so other people can throw up some suggestions.

AA is:
1) Korean
2) Pay2win
3) Ugly

I don't see any possible reason to play that ridiculous shit for autistic korean kids and donate money to get basic features.

Anon9k saying it like it is.
AA got one direction, and that is straight down.

So I do my best to keep quiet about it, but Archeage has always looked like trash to me. They've made a lot of grandiose promises and claims for what their game can do but every time they try to showcase it, it's like Mortal Online all over again with how poorly implemented everything is in reality. We've seen how systems of popular vote work in MMOs, they don't. Why apply it to such an important system such as criminal acts? The naval combat, politics, and classes are garbage on their own. I won't make any comments about the PvP or PvE though since I've seen none of it and it could very well be fun for all I know.

That said, at the prices that they're charging for everything it's all a bit insane.

I've seen the kind of outpouring support and excitement people have for it though and I don't much want to be a buzzkill. If it's your cup of tea, more power to you. It just looks like someone had the right general idea but had no idea how to pull it together.

To those that have to say, "You have to try it before you judge it!" Fuck off. I'm not paying the $150 beta fee, $60 game fee, and $15 monthly fee, plus every other in-game charge to just try a game out.

Yeah, but there's absolutely nothing restrictive about Haven. EVE is more restrictive than Haven is, and that's saying a lot as you can train anything you want as long as you want to put the time into it. That's why the "complete noob" view. Reminds me of a politician talking out their ass about something they know little about. (FYI, Haven doesn't have any sort of "class" system.)

I'd love to try AA, but not dropping the $20 to get into the CLOSED BETA. There are a couple people around here playing it (see the "screenshots of other games" thread). Trion has done pretty good with their games, if not great, and so don't expect them to be localizing and hosting something that is going to be complete crap.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Life is Feudal is looking like a mix between UO Shadowbane Wurm and HnH... As Mortal / DF etc I am keeping an eye on this to see what will the result be. I'm done having (super) high expectations :)

I'm still waiting to see things from Shroud of the Avatar. I figure if anyone can make a successor to UO it'll be Lord British, considering he made UO.

Not exactly a bad rep, Just a fresh start. But, No I'll agree with you Teck. Main reason I haven't condemened it for being a pay2win deal is due it still not being fully released yet. Once it has and it's flopped I'll put it in my pile of shit that was a bad idea... Like WoW, And half the steam games I bought. I actually haven't heard much about Shroud of the Avatar I'll have to look into it now that you brought it up

Edit: In regards to the open class system thing I mentioned, I meant mainly the ability to swap your specs fairly easily.
