As you might already know, Notch is the creator of Minecraft and the majority shareholder at Mojang. He’s decided that he doesn’t want the responsibility of owning a company of such global significance. Over the past few years he’s made attempts to work on smaller projects, but the pressure of owning Minecraft became too much for him to handle. The only option was to sell Mojang. He’ll continue to do cool stuff though. Don’t worry about that.

Interesting. Lets wait until Microsoft screws it up.

Also, Notch made a great game but after that just grabbed the money and outsourced literally everything, so that's not a + in my book. Minecraft is a pretty good game though so kudo's to him on that.

It's not about Minecraft nor Microsoft nor Money - it's about a great guy being in fear of getting rolled over and loose all the fun ...
it's a statement not to push "our great guys" into monetarisation and insanity

According to that man himself he was already nuts about the game beforehand due to testers driving him insane or something. :p

I don't think it's about his sanity. It's about his complete and utter lack of power to make new games (all his new projects failed miserably so far, like that awesome space sim where you typed commands into the consoles in a .. QORK? manner?) and the many many vacations Notch liked to take while his team worked on Minecraft.

He can get many more vacations now. In the end it's always about the money I think.
