Death is also kind of poorly handled at the moment in my opinion and the community is being kind of dumb about it. If you die you turn into a ghost and you're dead. There have been suggestions to make it so that dying bans you from servers, keeps you as a ghost permanently on that server, etc.. Concepts that don't really work well with that sort of game. I can't imagine anything more miserable than trying to sit down to play with a friend and having them die on their first night to spiders and then we have to just close the server and start up a new one to try again. It discourages adventurousness and discovery. Overall the community wants dying in the game to kill you in real life.
But these are just kinks and I hope I get a beta key after they're worked out. If not I'll just play it when it's released.
