Trading is definitely worth it. Its the difference between you being a bum with nothing and being a bum with nice shit. People love to buy foragables. Get 1600+ PER*EXP and gather flotsams, edels, bluebells and pearls.

You have mountains, lakes, swamps. Forage for curiosities. If you're wondering what something is worth, most traders are in agreement on the value of most items, so just check out a few big trade threads to get a gist of prices.

Trading is a brilliant way of obtaining better gear for hermits and for making some points from your excess wares, going into the trading business as a hermit needs slightly more thought.

You will be better served by a secure idol, if trading goes wrong you don't then want them having access to the whole of your village. You are going to need to build up a stock of trading items, have storage and be able to keep up with demand whilst still running your hermitage, it is a lot of work for a single person but, it can be done and be very profitable.

This thread may be worth reading too to give you an understanding of the trading system. :)

Trading is great to speed up your village/hermitage's progress, or just get yourself some shiny gear.
But most traders are a bit paranoid so they aren't too "social" either.
If you want to be social you should try joining a village or creating your own.
And yes there's always the risk of getting backstabbed, you have to keep trying until you find decent people :)
