Yet another theory: About the hostility on the forums

Postby Prowny » Tue Apr 14, 2015 2:55 pm

Hello everyone, how's it going?
Even though I've been inactive for a few months now, I find myself lurking these forums almost on a daily basis.
To the point.
Lately, I've noticed that everyone seems a bit tense, even more than the usual. We are all ready to jump at each other's throats over any silly excuse.
So I was wondering, has this happened before? Is it a result of people growing weary of the current world?
Does the level of the hostility on the forums raises as worlds get older?
Feel free to share your opinions and experiences. :)

I don't see that much hostility here except very few loudmouthers and some at Congress (which is immanent i guess)

I actually think it's been better for awhile now, than it usually is. Lol.

Some of the new arrivals got a bit of stick but in most cases they do tend to bring it on themselves by coming in all guns blazing, so to speak, or making tiresome threads.

And congress, well, it's congress, lol, you expect it there.

Matters of Justice, and not AD's waving their dicks every time they kill someone :P

Luckily, they have been quiet for a while now…

EDIT: Forgot to add this:

Anyways it seems that Vets (that are assholes) will go ape-shit over newbies being newbies, e.g. Metruption, or when people do very stupid/ignorant things, e.g. Bondle and Buddies, everything CF related (too lazy to fish up more then one CF thread), Everyone's favorite Fuck-up, and just about everything that a newbie does that is stupid (in a veteran's perspective).

And I think that the only place that the hostility would go up a the world ends, would be ICA, but thats just my opinion.

Best explanation will always be:

It's Spring, after all. Mating season, all those hormones, that kind of thing.

I don't have enough worlds in my baggage to be able to compare this one to, but some W2+ players told me they feel W7 is much more violent than the other ones and that there has never been so many assholes around, in the game or on the forum.
As for me personally, I only lurk the forum for the occasional troll's and nao's posts. ICA crappiness has spread everywhere, even DnT, and even *sigh* W7 screenshots.
I'd risk saying that the world's age isn't as important as the players getting bored and quitting. That may be leading to a vicious circle where the ones still in the game get even more bored and attempt to have fun or stir drama on the forum because there's nothing happening, so they look for the smallest opportunity to set fire to things and then we have what we have.

I think people just want new things to do and challenges. The hype for new world is slowly building. :)
