Tree of Life

Postby TwentyThree » Sat May 23, 2015 6:40 am

Theres a neato game comin out for early access in Steam on the 27th.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/361800/

It's got a Korean/American art style, and appears that it will have a vanity cash shop when it releases, without b2w options.

One map, and has a few servers to pick from.

It's an MMO with 24 skills, and 400 points to allocate between them, with each skill only rising to 100.
APPARENTLY, the various mobs and monsters can set up their own villages automatically, which you can raid and loot, or if you leave them alone, they might raid your town instead.
You can build anyone, have guilds, that kind of thing.

Has potential.

I watched a video, and it seems a little bit too easy to break a wall and loot a village.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

So many cookie-cutter games like this coming out... All full of crash bugs, lag and fps drops, and retarded build spams that make the map look like shit

Not worth paying for imo

Death means nothing, were could the thrill come from, not from the unfrightening mobs niether from the boring gathering or crafting.

I took the plunge and bought this game and have been playing it lately. It definitely has a lot of inspiration from good old hnh, such as things like item quality, progression from palisade to brick walls etc. I will say if anything it's hnh lite because progression is much faster and raiding a village has a smaller margin of error for the raiders, and therefore pvp is a lot more common. Also many features of the game aren't even in yet. So if you feel like playing a less serious version of hnh then you should try it. It's fun to play to fill the gap before the hnh update.

Its crime system seems like shit and that's what's really keeping me away from it. Theft isn't even considered a crime, so god help you if you want to have anything nice. =(

Despite my previous comment, I did buy the game... And you're right

It really reminds me of Salem in that if someone wants to fuck with you and they're willing to keep up with it, you will basically lose everything you have
That and the constant upkeep that your structures require.

We built a small base and within a day it was wiped clean by NPCs and people

The game redeems itself in other ways don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the systems that they have in place.
The crime system needs to be worked on though.

Like how you go "red" for attacking someone stealing from you

Are Brickwalls still bashable by hand with a few people?

Prolly the best and funniest is that you can just grab animals and move them on your shoulders to a pen without needing to tame :D

The different attacking "NPCs" i find funny too ...

Sadly ToL lacks the same all of these game lack at: they're favouring asshattery too much

Guess are lot of HnH Vets playing there ...
