so far, counted 27 hearthlings.

indeed, but it probably depends on the situation. id probably try to find some kind of a floater (preferably a life jacket) to feel secure if time allows. im not so sure if im tough enough any more. (come to think of it, ive had quite a few trips on a ferry/ship, but had never paid attentions where life jackets/boats were placed.)

I was on a Navy training ship and we did ASD (Abandon Ship Drill) where we had to jump off the ship from the highest deck roughly four floors up. The fall doesn't hurt unless you let go of your life-jacket (In which case you can kiss having children goodbye). So I'm not that afraid of jumping off a ship other than that whole freezing/starving to death or going mad from sun exposure and drinking the salt water.

As for how I actually learnt how to swim, I taught myself. Started on my back in the water where I could float, then tried different things, or copied what I saw other people doing. Swimming lessons are alot better, but hey, that costs money.

500lp and full barbarism are enough to let you cross most rivers. It really isn't difficult.
