There are a number of us still wandering around the ruins of the old world. You just gotta know where to look.

Since you're starting out, be brave and explore abandoned settlements to give yourself a leg up.

People are still here. As Nao mentioned its is a large world. People play from all over the world. Those in your area may be on at completely different times.
