I have palyed HnH on and off for about 3-4 years. I have not played in a while and went to launch it and it didnt work. So i just redownloaded it thinking it would work. When it launches it just stays a white window and nothing happens. Please help :(

There was an update to java and the current haven client uses JOGL 1.0 , which relies on outdated features which are no longer used in the the new release of java.
I tried getting it to work, but not much luck, the only trick i where you could make it work is going back to an older version of java, but thats unsupported these days which means its not secure and not worth the hassle.

The good news however is the new hafen which is released next month will use an uptodate JOGL 2.0, so it should work, notwithstanding any other issues or bugs that we come across as loftar doesnt have a mac to test.

weird that it works with Linux and Windows ...   FFE - fully failed explanation i'd say ... prolly just because jogl is jogl and not Java ... guess why all clients deliver the gluegen and jogl libaries ... i'd better blame Apple but Oracle for that white screen stuff ... my guess is they crippled their drivers ...

No, it's true. The problem is that JOGL 1.0 relies on a feature in Apple's implementation of Java (which was used to create an OpenGL context on OSX, whereas Windows uses wGL and Linux XGL), which has since been reworke .

Or, well, at least this used to be the problem. However, that problem used to cause a "Haven Error", rather than a white-screen hang.

? Apple Java 6 ?
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572

Maybe a OsX user can tell you whether it's possible to install both Javas (Apple Java 6 and Oracle Java 8) and determine in the .command which one gets used ... MrBunzy ?!?

ty loftar for setting it straight - but in my opinion it's still Apples weird politics that's to blame ...
