2012? why do people think that the world is going to end in 2012? I dont get it.it makes no sense i think some dude took a bunch of numbers and wrote them down on paper put it in the hat and pulled out 2012... so i think that idea is kinda stupid... what u think? Also once 2012 is over everybody is going to say the same thing about 2020 again or something likr that...

Actually though, the Mayan calendar (or, less popularly, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar) doesn't resemble ours at all (except in such inescapable ways that it is based on astronomical events), and it does, in fact, not end in 2012. It's just one of its subdivisions that end then, and it seems it's just a crass misinterpretation that has led people to think that it ends then. Just FYI.
