Everybody needs good neighbours

Postby 32012323 » Mon Feb 01, 2010 8:17 am

Howdy,

I'm new to H&H and now that I've stated the obvious, I'd like to go about thanking which ever one of my neighbours snuck in to my cabin (past my claim... oddly enough) and delivered the wicker basket full of baked goods.

Also the bee keep before I forget, thank you very much!

I'd just started the game two nights ago and after a confusing first few hours I still couldn't figure out how close I was to civilization. In fact, I'm still pretty damn confused as to where I've settled my farming estate and how anybody managed to get past a stake claim. Is there an easier way of pinpointing my location besides the interactive and static maps provided here?

So if the owner of my welcoming gifts would please spill the beans, I'd be more than happy to help out in any way I can. Not saying I can make anything of value quite yet, but I'm a quick learner and if you've got a friend or two who need somewhere to set their hearth fires aside I'd gladly set them up until they're ready.

Here's a snap to jog the memory, thanks again!

I just broke one part of the fence and went through the hole, left it as a sign of goodwill, and went through the same hole, rebuild the fence.

I explored the neighborhood and I can say that there is absolutely no life. You're on this earth is the third, heh.

Cheers for that, feel free to drop past when ever you're in the neighbourhood.

That's so weird, the first few days I'd been going walkabouts and I hadn't stumbled on a single town. Got a little cocky thinking I'd picked a spot close to potential mines but to be honest just a whole lotta wood, rabbits, fish and clay.

It's a pain even describing how to get to the cabin to friends starting, I'm just hoping they get lucky.

If you want your friends to get to you when they start then set a hearth secret and tell it to them so they can spawn to your hearthfire.

Also can't you just turn criminal acts on and walts into anyones claim without purchasing any skill. You can't do anything but you can drop a basket of goods.

That's good to know, I was always wondering how difficult it would be breaking into somebodies land despite having Yeomanry. Reminded a bit of the old clients for Ultima Online, sneaking up to somebodies, waiting for them to fumble through their inventory for the key to the door, run in, bag the goods and bail.

Not really similar, but it's the only experience I've got anywhere near as close.

Thanks for the info scourage!

If you want an idea of your general direction, make an alt on a different account and spawn him at the Ring of Brodgar.

Join a party with this new character and then click on his party portrait. As long as both of you are outside, you should walk towards the second character.

This way you have a very general idea of your direction in regards to RoB.

That's not a bad method at all, might have to make a hunting alt so I don't waste any character space too.

Thanks for the info Caliku!
