Things you feel we need before map reset

This is not the same as suggestions, this is more a place to discuss or argue features and additions to the game that you feel is important to encourage trading, civility and relative safety. Any balancing issues to promote farming communities, mining communities, industrial production communities, self sufficient villages or kingdoms, even thief guilds or raider slums.

What features do you think matter most to help balance the game and make it so all can exist?

Personally, I believe it is important to make it so Pallisades and Brick walls cannot be destroyed by hand, regardless of strength, tools, or army size. All these walls should absolutely require siege machines, constructed with obscene amounts of material, requiring village authority points to build, and requiring to be constructed near the village to be raided, and using marksman skill to fire.

Complicated? Good.

This would reduce, but not destroy the chances of random villages being targeted if they have nothing of true value to offer or there is no real purpose to attack.

An alternative would be to pick gate locks, which would not only require skill, but time as well.

These are updates that are important to me.

So discuss, people, what's important to you, and your style of hearthing.

Id like a maprest just right now, to see how all the new things kick in. How hard it is to get a civilised city running and prospering. How all the new features like wilderness spawning, prospecting skill to find mines, domestication etc affect the building up phase.
However this should be combined with a char reset, unlike the last reset where we could search for mines and kill lvl X bears naked at the first day..

So Caradon, you like siege engines to prevent random towns to get attacked without much effort, on the other hand you want to be able to lockpick their gates, so you can do it with a throwaway alt and dont have to raise his strength high enough?

Edit: Oh i forgot one thing that needs to be gone before a reset: the horrible lag.

I'm not to sure about siege weapons, I am however very excited about the possibility to use Loftars Xmpp thing for something like this... what if chopping at a wall in village influence sends a nice little message to all the village members that set up their game to work like this, its a sort of a call to arms.

Destroying walls inside village influence should take a minimum of 5ish? minutes no matter how strong the vandal (villagers should still be able to knock down walls normally of course), or how weak the wall. This gives the villagers time to react (if they react at all)... the obvious flaw here is ofcourse that people have to sleep and do other real life related things. but it at least gives you a chance to fight back! (Hell I even heard of a guy who connected H&H to his Google talk, and connected his Google talk to his mobile phone!)


other than that... Mining villages have the advantage of having access to Iron and can still farm perfectly, it you can being a farmer in a mining village is awesome there's a steady supply of metals for your tools and there's no downside to it... Perhaps soil quality should be raised almost everywhere and have soil quality have an impact on crops. Mines could then radiate bad soil quality. giving A) a hint as to where a mine might be without using rustroot? and B) more need for specialisation, to stimulate trade between miners and farmers... Miners will have to travel a little to get good food... while for farmers nothing really changes.


I'd love to see the fast travel system replaced with something less... instant, maybe horses? wagons? bridges?! magic wyrd walking?

also think more about item sinks... Food obviously gets eaten so no problem there... Iron... well a good farmer needs iron to keep his plough in order. for a stable economy there should be a stable demand for items, but currently most needs can be fulfilled. if you look at the linen market... its only good till a village decides to stop expanding, (besides torches) there's no need to get your hands on a steady supply of linen..? as far as I've heard territory flags also don't really need a lot repairing. the same is true for silk I think... once you have a merchants robe you're pretty much good with silk and thus the demand stagnates. a sink should be thought about for every resource I think.


anyway that's my ramblings :)

PS... I'd like to get rid of the need for alts... somehow oO
