Farewell rituals?

Postby Zirikana » Thu Feb 18, 2010 6:46 am

So, I've been playing this game just long enough to get a nice little homestead established, some kind of steady booze and food production going, and a nice leather supply happening. A little orchard, a cart and a boat, it was good times. I won't be playing that much over the next week, so I decided to give my little dude a proper farewell. I carved a runestone by the shore of the lake i was on, built a small fire on the coast, learned swimming, and walked off towards the sunset. (btw, they're really not kidding about swimming being dangerous... i died in about three steps)

I gotta admit, taking that last survey and screenshot of my homestead and making the final plunge made me a little bit verklempt and misty eyed. FIgured I'd start a thread about what all you people are doing for your last hurrah in the second world.

(Apparently one of y'all decided to kill yourself on my booze, judging by the corpse i found next to where all my cheap wine was stashed :P)

My villagers and I are going to go deep within our cave, carrying booze, offerings, and tons of food to the deepest part of it, where there lay a large underground lake. We're going to get as drunk as possible, fill our stomachs with food for the afterlife, and put on our most extravagant clothes and goods to bring with us to the afterlife, before walking single-file into the lake to fully realize our acute water allergies.

Here is my story. Since I find out about The Reset, I sewed my first and last ranger cape, wear ranger boots and went to search of Civilisation. I tried to teleport to Brodgar earlier, but even with agility of 48 it was not possible.
So I had destroyed all nearby runestones and leaved only one where engrave an inscription for ignorant travellers about the end of the world. As it was nothing to lose I decided to use a boat only as a last resort and crossed over my small river in northern direction. On my way I did stops only to kill an animal and learn its level. Soon animals of VII level began to come across me, then the V-th and finally I have found myself surrounded with animals of II level. But that was fault. There was no civilisation around just one claim sign which radiates strong power. No peoples, no buildings, even the trees stays unchopped. So there was no choice but travel forth.
I think i was in about half supergrid from my shelter when I found weak animals again. Now area occupied with them was really big, three minimaps on radius or near it. So I was forced to comb district and finally I found it. The small estate surrounded by brick wall with farm and mine inside. But there was no humans around though there was 4 hearth fires outside the walls and at least 2 inside. Having passed along of the nearest river I had come across one more settlement. But it was on the other side of the river and the river was slightly wider than many others I was happy to force. Without thinking twice I regain full stamina and swim to the other bank. There was the end

So, wait...you mean you did NOT swim to the other bank, right?
I liked the story tho. The lone quest into the unknown wilds...

I am going from town to town leaving notes. I will then be attending the end of the world party, fallowed by a nice little dip in the river.

Maybe I should just try to drink myself to death. If that doesn't work, I'll go to my original plan.
