The final solution?

Postby Blaze » Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:40 pm

As we already know, people are using hearthless characters just to cause problems and disrupt other players, so I was thinking of how to get rid of the problem without waiting for the devs to work it out.

And I figured it out, BUT in order to enact it, you're going to need to throw away any sense of decency and fair play.

My proposal, is to permanently SEAL the Ring of Brodgar.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

We would need some way to reopen the ring though... Apart from divine intervention.
This feels so lord of the rings or something. :D Seal the portal to hell or something. :P

Let's make a Vault around the Ring then, with one-tile exit.
Then we choose the Ring Keeper, who will be allowed to place his Hearth Fire there.
Once the problem is solved the Ring Keeper will open the vault.

Waaaaaggghhh!
Erm..
I dunno about this one guys. Jorb said;

jorb wrote:What error message are you getting? If it says "Has no Hearth Fire" -- the offender simply hasn't built a fire and cannot be summoned (this will be fixed).

So a solution is on the way. I really doubt that this is being caused by more than a few bad eggs, and i think penalizing every new player might be a bit over the top.

That said, if enough people on here think its a good idea, ill go along. We might get the problem fixed and make dryingracks movable in one fell swoop.

Or we might get pathing fixed and a plauge of bears descending on wall builders as they work. Heh.

I am approving. This is going to be a forcing a fix and going well for a solution.

Do you think you could wait until the week end before doing such a thing? Jorb and loftar seem to develop on the weekend meaning that they will most likely add RoB summoning. Hold out and see what happens before doing something drastic.

ARHG we just had a restart to fix tracking bugs. I was SOOO sure we were going to get hearthfires fixed, but no dice.

Lets hold off a bit, let others chime in for or against, and see if they fix it on the weekend?

If you see a bunch of bodies near the Ring Of Brodgar, sorry, I'll clean it up eventually.
