So basically I've been playing since 2 days after the reset, I had a disadvantage.
"K, np" I said to myself. "I'll catch up". I feverishly ripped the goon's introductionairy topic from their forums and used it on facepunch, with proper crediting. Soon enough the players started streaming in, still clueless but knowing the mechanics at least. I had set up a small camp for myself in the meanwhile right where I spawned to get myself started and welcome any early-comers. Soon enough, 2 days - 3 days later, we noticed that this wasnt the spot, I started scouting and not far from our original spot we found the ideal place, surrounded by cliffs and easily wallable, also next to a mountain.
Times passed by, we killed our first bear using the known exploits and that was a huge boost to the hunter's lp. We meanwhile had gathered lots of skills, stats, and I was this time not cursed with high constitution, but with high... high intelligence, from fishing, which is at 23 FEP right now typing this, due to unlucky raising from plaice, I also equally leveled perception twice with that. It took me a good two hours to travel to the nearest lake, actually finding out how I could catch plice instead of these goddamned plaice: turned out I needed to ask a newb to get me a low ql spindly taproot so I could lower the quality of the caught fish for perception, because when I traded him my rod he actually also caught: Pike. I dont need pike, it gives me a random chance to level my two best stats and another somewhat useless stat.
However, before I even bothered with raising my perception for hunting, gathering, and general purposes (perception is too damn useful), I want to speak about another curse of map 3.
Russians
I don't mind them, the more players, the better. But they're rude, have no respect for fellow hearthlingkind, pillaged our village empty once, from which we recovered fast enough luckily when I got my claim up. This claim I got up also set me back a while, it had to be big enough to support quite some storage, a whopping 20k lp went into it for a... what, 3 day old characer? It set me back hard, and to this day I'm still 20k lp short on my character from that claim. Because my village totem is unbuildable due to overpowered deer owning me with their healing skills. When we found out the nearby fort, of which we knew had russians, had a shitton of cupboards, boats, and plants suddenly, we knew it as their work that pillaged us.
So we became extremely wary of russians since that day, tried to shoo them off because they hilariously got angry at us for chopping down a tree in our own village. They were mad at me because it was their tree, it didn't help our relations and judgement of these stalin supporters.
So one day they came on our claim, just tresspassed it, turned on criminal acts, acted like they owned the village. I treathened them to go away or they'll die soon enough - bad mistake - they had lifelessly managed to grind themselves up to rage status already, had a bear cape, something which we at the time still didnt have in over supply. And we were all of course also weakened from our constant struggle with mother nature, so he proceeded to knock me out for treathening him, and followed by a fellow village who was asking why, and what bullshit this is. We eventually got him to calm down and stop. And they eventually left after a few days, having their pallisade fort locked down using the "expanded doorwall" exploit as I call it for the lack of a better word. Thing calmed down, we expanded and grew a bit, gained more members.
Everything went fine, till we arrive at the time we call "now". Our resident explorer had finally gained the ability to find rustroot, and had gathered two. Exitedly we went out prospecting, our two resident caves? No mines. The mountain we were on the foot of? No mines. The mountain somewhat further west? I got told, there was a mine, but the russians had it, woop-dee-fucking-doo, they lifelessly grinded themselves up to the ability to get rustroot so fast with their prospecting. We decided to continue exploring for mines, and focused on heading west. We travelled for an hour, found another rustroot, and with 10 charges we kept moving west and west.
No minerals.
Nowhere.
I gave up, my friend went on, and suddenly hit an invisible wall....
He was at the edge of the map, and found no mines, no minerals.
We had the idea that we might have to relocate our already established village to the mine so we could at least have good access to it. But everyone seems to have taken their mines already, and the russians seem to have invaded the game 4chan-esque with the idea to dominate it capturing all mines and pillaging and murdering everyone while leaving treathening runestones.
To russians, start behaving already, or you're gonna reputate yourself in a negative way.
To the veterans, I wish I could abandon my town and join you guys, but I won't betray them.
To the others, non-russians, pity me, for I am someone with a bit of a life. Who thought to be able to finally become a superpower in this game after the reset, and got outplayed.
