Terrible Ideas

Postby Peter » Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:40 pm

This doesn't belong in C&I, because this is a list of intentionally terrible ideas.

- Skill: Voice Throwing
Learning this skill allows you to throw your voice, making things you say appear to be said by other players.

- Event: Blights
Occasionally, all crops of a certain kind die.

- Event: Apocalypse
Players may attempt a ritual involving hearthling sacrifice, gold ornaments, seveal bears being lead to an enclosure, and someone with psi of over 9000 points. If a success, the world is destroyed and a new one created.

- Skill: Noodling
Hearthlings with a high barbarism score can fish with their bare hands while swimming in deep water.

- Skill: Alert the Clan
Hearthlings with this 50,000 LP skill can shout and be heard for three whole screens of distance, rather than the two.

- Tech: IPOT
IP over Telegraph. Set up a system to allow game packets to be routed over nearly traffic-free telegraph lines, leading to higher bandwidth for some users.

- Forum: Make a stupid thread
Potentially one that discusses terrible ideas and suggestions.
Surprise.

Locus swarms would be an ok thing

Aside from the 9000psi, i sort of like this idea.

Skill- Eavesdrop: Randomly changes what chat window is up and visible, including those belonging to other players that you are in within one screen of you which you shouldn't be able to see. Doesn't actually allow you to see who is talking to whom.

Skill- Juggle: You know that damn branch that keeps getting stuck on your mouse pointer? How about up to three random items simultaneously AND they keep changing so if you try to put down the mulberry you find you have just dropped the flour and if you try to put the worm on your fishing rod you find you have just dropped the mulberry. Allows you to carry three extra items but only to access them if you are very lucky.

Event - Enrage: Sudden increase in combat skills given to Lawspeakers when they discover someone has built a timber house in the middle of a designated road and destroyed their new city layout.

Unoffical combat technique- Dock Blocking: the practice of dropping rats, rabbits, chickens and toads into the water just where your opponent is expected to put his boat so that he can't put it down there and has to run (crawl) along the bank holding it looking for a place where he can actually put it in the water. Commonly only used on hearthmates who have just expressed the intention to go fishing.

Game term: SBSIV A numerical rating that shows the uproar level of a settlement, pronounced "Sbuh-siv" New Wayneville has a modest SBSIV rating of 3, while Pooktown holds the map championship high rating of 7. SBSIV stands for "simultaneous bear spawns in village"

Apocalypse would be rad as fuck, actually. There'd always be a couple players trying to cast it, and people would league against them to thwart their ritual.
I mean, that or some similar concept would bring interesting group behaviors to the game.
