Hunger

Postby Brickbreaker » Fri Mar 12, 2010 12:20 am

I was talking to a bunch of guys living near me about resource limitations and hunger bars.
They were saying how much food they have to eat and how unrealistic it is to eat 20 rabbits/chickens a day, and I argued that although its alot to keep up with its
actually more realistic the way it is.
e.g. when someone builds a log cabin in rl it would take them a few days or possibly weeks to finish a cabin. And in that time they would have ate quite alot of food.
Now considering in this game you can build a cabin in less than an hour and cook in seconds it makes sense doesn't it?

Just putting my opinion out there and want to hear others.

Sure, while it may be realistic in that sense, it's quite immersion-breaking and it's annoying from a player's standpoint.
Surprise.

Realism is not always the goal, for
realism has very strict boundaries
which you have to stay within. And
i doubt you'd like to play 'Life: The
Video Game!'.

Realistic =/= Fun

If you spend the whole (game) day idly doing nothing, you'd hardly need to eat at all.
If you cannot command, then you must obey.

Of course, if you didn't play the game then you wouldn't need to feed your character.

Th food consumption is rediculous (like you say above) but as for the bottom line, it's imbalanced, they admit it, said they would someday do something about it...and what else can be said for done...lol

So you are running around eating wild chickens and rabbits and complaining about starving.

thats because of your lifestyle. You are pathetic gatherer/hhunters who have not industrialized

in the neolithic I don't think people ate every day. I think the main reason our nails are shaped the way they are is because they are designed by natural selection to scrape slime off rocks...to eat...

You want enough food to build a civilization upon? enough food not to be worrying about food contsantly?

agriculture is the pillar civilization is built on

farm some goddamn wheat. stop whining

Cough...it is relevant how or what you graze upon, that has nothing to do with the amount of time and tardo consumption OF said fodder which was the OP. Plowing, planting, harvesting, grinding, mixing wheat/dough for pastry/bread fodder is even MORE taxing on the stamina that just walking around catching rabbits/chickens which = even faster tardo consumption, so your argument falls apart.

what are you talking about. farming allows you to produce food en masse. this lack of food problem is exclusively a newbie problem. there was no lack of food for me in the last map, or for any of my friends. the rate at which you starve hasnt increased either.
