Brief Russian Lesson

not expecting you to be able to understand everything you see ingame, but I figure this might help in some situations.

Pronouns
First Person Singular
Nominative (I) = Я
Accusative and Genitive (Me, My) = Меня
Dative ('to Me/for Me', this is in the sense of an indirect object) = Мне
Мне is also used as the object of a preposition.
Russian has what's called an 'instrumental' case too, but I won't get into that.

Second Person Singular
Nominative (You) = Ты
Accusative and Genitive (You, Your) = Тебя
Dative (to you, for you) = Тебе, also used as object of a preposition

Third Person Singular
Nominative (He, She, It) = Он, Она, Оно
Accusative and Genitive (Him/His, Her/Her, It/Its) = Его, Её, Его
Dative (to/for him, to/for her, to/for it) = Ему, Ей, Ему
Prepositional (him, her, it) = Нём, Ней, Нём

First Person Plural
Nominative (We) = Мы
Accusative, Genitive, and Prepositional (Us, Our, Us) = Нас
Dative (to/for Us) = Нам

Second Person Plural
Nominative (You All) = Вы
Accusative, Genitive, Prepositional (You All, Your, You All) = Вас
Dative (to/for You) = Вам

Third Person Plural
Nominative (They) = Они
Accusative and Genitive (Them, Their) = Их
Dative (to Them) = Им
Prepositional (Them) = Них

Also pretty much anything that starts 'Мо-' will mean my or mine.
If you see a word that starts with 'Тво-' it probably means Your or Yours
If you see a word that starts with 'Наш-' it probably says 'Our'
Words that start with 'Ваш-' normally mean 'Your' but in the sense of multiple 'you's.

Other useful words
'for' in the sense of 'Trade this for that' -- на
'and' -- и
yes -- Да (Ja)
no -- нет (Nyet)
'fuck' or 'death', to an extreme degree -- пиздец VULGAR
'XXX was here' -- XXX был тут
awesome -- заебись
wow -- ебать!
idk -- хз
I don't know -- хуй знает (literally 'dick knows')

hello -- Привет (Privyet) (actually Privyet means Hi, 'Здравствуйте' means hello but is god-awful long)
bye -- Пока (Paka)
thanks -- Спасибо (spaseeba)
you're welcome -- Пожалуйста (pazhalooysta)
sorry -- Извините (Eezveeneete)
my russian is bad -- Я плохо говорюпо-русски
I (don't) understand -- Я (не) понимаю


My biggest interest is hearing from Russians which words they actually do or do not use, and how they spell them most frequently (ie since people in english sometimes spell phonetically I assume russians do too)

obviously I don't have a russian keyboard so had to copy and paste a lot of characters. If I did anything wrong just let me know.

Anyway, you could use this as a reference sheet for trading with russian speaking neighbors I guess. Your russian will sound terrible and broken, but should be understandable.

For instance:
'Меняем <items to give> на <wanted items>.'
Just use numbers for numbers. IE use the number '2' instead of saying 'two'.

I don't know if the client has been translated to russian yet or if the texts for different things are sent from the server or if they are stored in the client, but I might translate the client to russian at some point if it's possible.

Not insults, but i guarantee, this will improve your relations with any russian:

"Редиска!" = "You are a very bad person!"
"Милиция! Хулиганы зрения лишают!" - "Call the police! They are going to kill me!"
"А вас, Штирлиц, я попрошу остаться." - "You will not leave this place alive."
"Ты смешной парень, ты мне нравишься. Поэтому, я убью тебя последним." - "You're a funny man, I like you. That's why I'm going to kill you last. "
"Помнишь, я обещал убить тебя последним. Я соврал." - "Remember, when I promised to kill you last? I lied."
"Таможня дает добро." - "I approve of what you are doing."
"Не виноватая я! Он сам пришел! " - "It wasn't me! I'm Innocent!"
"Буду бить аккуратно, но сильно. " - "Now i'm going to hurt you."
"Руссо туристо, облико морале, ферштейн?" - "I think, russians are very nice people."
"Короче, Склифосовский." - "You really talk too much."
"Будете у нас на Колыме - милости просим!" - "Come, visit my village. It's just three supergrids away."
"И что это я в тебя такой влюбленный? " - "You, sir, are a very nice and decent person. Do you know that?"
"Лед тронулся, господа присяжные заседатели!" - "Lets rock and roll!"
"Командовать парадом буду я!" - "I'm in charge here!"
"Муля, не нервируй меня!" - "Do NOT piss me off!"
"A казачок-то засланный!" - "Lets get him, he is a spy!"
"Какая гадость, эта ваша заливная рыба." - "I don't like you, and you village suck."
"Спокойствие, только спокойствие!" - "Everybody be cool, it's a robbery!!!"
"Может Вам ключи от квартиры дать, где деньги лежат?" - "If you want it - come and get it!"
"Господин назначил меня любимой женой!" - "I own this place now."
"Я не трус, но я боюсь!" - "Actually, i'm a pacifist."

And the greatest hit in this game would be "Замуровали, демоны!" , but i can't think of an adequate enough H&H translation. ("Demons, you've sealed us!" in the sense of sealing your gate with walls)

If I could be bothered reading all that several times, and getting used to it, I think I could get the gist of what a Russian is saying and I could decide whether they want to trade or my blood, how ever I'm a lazy arse so I didn't read it all, but it is still some amazing work that is well needed for those of us who are actually willing to learn (A.K.A not me)

Some corrections:
plot - делянка (if you talk about piece of land)
tin - олово (жесть is also tin, but in game context tin is олово)
bear - медведь (if we are talking about animal and not about to bear smth.)
boar - кабан
bear teeth - медвежьи клыки
boar teeth - кабаньи клыки

dicks - (this one is really lol - please explain, what do you really mean here):
dicks (член) - penis
dicks (сыщик, детектив) - investigator

If you want to say 'we trade pumpkins for bear teeth' please better use:
Меняем тыкву на медвежьи клыки.
Exchange pumpkins for bear teeth
Меняем <items to give> на <wanted items>.

Wasn't dick хуи? I see it used for all sorts of things, just like we use the word kurac (dick) in Bosnia for everything. Like "dodaj mi taj kurac" for "pass me that thing", "ajd u kurac" for "go to hell", "koji ti je kurac?" for "what's wrong with you?", "ideš mi na kurac" for "you're getting on my nerves", "hoću kurac" for "the hell I will", "misliš si ti tu neki kurac?" for "who do you think you are?", etc. So yeah, thought it's reasonable to assume that хуи means the same thing, seeing how it's used all over the place.

BTW we have special kind of this word in common language. It's 'хуй'. Vandals like to write this word everywhere (you can find it on minimaps). It's very rude and impolite to use this word in formal language, but in some contexts it's very funny. We never use this word, when women or children near (it's like a codex of men ). Sometimes this word written just just to indicate Russians presence in region.
BTW, ou can see presence of Russians in developer teams in many games (for instance, Modern Warfare has these big bold red letters on military base). MW2 also has signs of Russian presence.
