How not to hunt bears....

Just in case anyone is curious, building a hunting box out of unbuilt pallisade corner posts around a boulder does not work. The bear can still bust the barricade.

't Would be more helpful for people who don't know how to hunt them to post here how to hunt them instead of how not (For rangers with low defense I say hunt them from a boat, but they'll prolly run if you dont 1 or 2 hit them)

How can people who don't know how to hunt them post how to hunt them if they don't know?

So far I have had a lot of luck hunting bears from boats with a sling. They haven't run yet. The hunting box was my idea on how to deal with the bears who amble into my camp which is far, far from the water.

Here's how to hunt bears with ranged or ranged-melee combo (and hopefully this predictability can now also be fixed)

1. Shoot bear from boat
2. As soon as he passifies he will run
3. Get off the boat and stand still on the bank and wait, do not move
4. and looky here, Mr. Bear comes running back right at you. At this point don't shit yourself, stand still
5. The bear takes up position, in passified state, against you
6. Continue ranged or change to melee, whichever you prefer
7. The bear might run again, but do not move and he will come running back again
8. Rinse & repeat till he goes down

If you go group hunting, check who the bear passified to, do not jump of the boat if it didn't passify towards you, or if you lost engagement - you will get fucked up if you do.

Even better, when the bear comes back to you trap it with you own body at the corner of a river so it cannot deaggro by running away again. Otherwise you miss out on some lp.

I've never had the bear run out of engagement range before it runs back though, so, so far no LP loss.

For those with low damage slings no more than q25, the lvl x bear will not run if it does not deal more than 79 damage. Otherwise you may have to resort to some tricks mentioned above. If you a particularly damaging sling that can easily pump out 80 damage, you may be able to luck it out and be able to damage him for so and be able to put in panic mode before he gets enough intiative to attack you. Alternatively you can build a box of runestones or cellar dug boulders around yourself.

Yeah, this tends to crash the server.
