A true thief among us?

Postby p1geonman » Sat Jun 20, 2009 8:49 pm

As a preface, I do not opt to allow kin to interact freely with my land. Having said that, I saw obvious signs of tampering in my home today, yet a complete lack of theft scent. My combined tracking skill is 58. This is no mere alt - thievery has evolved in our game. Evidence of his high LP as a player was supported by the fact that he really took nothing; I log off with my metal goods, yet rare sausages abound in my containers of which he sampled none.

So I congratulate this mysterious master criminal for his high evasion stats. I have a full day to raise my tracking high enough to see your mark, and I hope you're Tradition if I do.

He took a piece of meat? INCONCEIVABLE. Kill that bastard, he definitely deserves it. Nobody, I mean nobody messes with a single sausage.

I think he said he didn't take anything. Presumably he means he moved things around.

What if it was Jorb!? :P

Jorb might occasionally look in a container. Jorb, however, never steals.

I second this.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

He was looking for metal. He'll be foraging many homes for metal goods, so why not act proactively?

cause looking in a container doesnt mean he has to be permakilled. my opinion.
you cant tell what he was looking for. assuming he/she would have stolen iron is just that: an assumption.

I think he should be hunted down if he doesn't come out and own up. It sounds like this thief could wreak havoc among the most powerful of settlements. If he's looking for steel it makes sense that he didn't steal anything. I suggest you hunt him down and question him.... It does make me wonder, though. Who is this guy?

1.) you want to hunt down and permakill everyone who looks through your containers? a bit obsessed and... um twisted? Maybe you want to live in a paranoid world where everyone who so much as looks in your containers deserves to die, but i think its overkill.
2.) If this person is as strong as you say, and you seem to imply he might be stronger then you, what makes you think he can be killed without suffering casulalitys of your own, or that he can even be killled. I think the higher level players are rather hard to kill unless they choose to fight to the death... they could just run away and its not like your arrows are going to do much against full armor [sure some.. but not going to dent there over 100 health significantly]...

Sounds like a lot of trouble for a misdomener of "looking in your stuff"

...btw.. is that a crime?
i know it is game-wise cause lothar hasnt completed the thieveing mechanic.. but... socially? is that really anything more then rude?
