Reforestation Clinics

Postby Raephire » Mon Jun 22, 2009 9:28 pm

Lately I have been hunting and noticing a sparsity of trees, and as a result apparently, a sparsity of game animals.

So I am beginning to set up reforestation clinics. These are herbalist tables near wells within a forest. 2 baskets, one full of buckets, another full of tree planters pots.

I ask that you take your time filling said pots with clay and growing trees, others who may hunt will come across your trees and plant them over the forest. This will help keep forests populated.

people will start digging around in the forest?
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Animal spawns aren't affect by trees AFAIK, would like to see that though :).

I suggest gathering clay from around lake shores, making sandlike beaches.
Surprise.

Am I correct that taking clay from forest permanently converts it to non-forest.? You can landscape it back to grassland, but not to forest - at least in appearance. Does this also change the type of animals generated and the speed at which trees grow?

Yes, so placing such clinics IN the forests is a potentially bad thing, since it can tempt people to do just that. I'd prefer them on the edge of forests, myself, or near clay pits.

A new pot takes maybe an hour to sprout, and sprouted pots last for 8 hours. Keep that in mind.

Pfft, for you nature people, anyway. It seems to take significantly longer for industry people.

To allow for reforestation clinics to operate more efficiently, the ones near clay fields will have a NARROW pathway , I will also construct a wagon.
